Common Merganser
The long, narrow bill with serrated edges readily distinguishes mergansers from all other ducks. Common mergansers are among the largest ducks, but are less stocky than eiders and goldeneyes. In flight, they appear more elongated than other ducks, flying in trailing lines close to the water surface.
Canvasback
Male canvasbacks have a chestnut red head and neck, a black breast, grayish back, black rump, and blackish brown tail. The sides, flank, and belly are white while the wing coverts are grayish and vermiculated with black.

Summary of New Wildlife Management Rules
The Texas Comptroller's Office has updated agency rules to provide clarity for landowners and tax appraisers regarding wildlife management standards for property to be appraised as open space land. The new rules, created with active input from the Texas Wildlife Association, went into effect December 11, 2008.

Alligators In Texas - Rules, Regulations and General Information
Effective September 1, 2005, an alligator hunter’s license is not required to hunt alligators in Texas. Mountain Lions in Texas
The mountain lion, also known as cougar, panther, catamount or puma, has the widest distribution of any wild cat from Canada to South America. Prior to European settlement, mountain lions lived throughout Texas. By 1960, predator control, loss of habitat, and human settlement reduced mountain lion numbers and limited their distribution within Texas to the mountainous country in the TransPecos region of West Texas.
