The Texas Wildlife Association was organized for the benefit of wildlife and for the rights of wildlife managers, landowners, and hunters in educational, scientific, political, regulatory, legal, and legislative arenas.

TWA is dedicated to educating all persons, especially the youth of Texas, about the conservation, management and enhancement of wildlife and wildlife habitat on private land to ensure the preservation of our cherished rural heritage for future generations.

TWA supports their mission through the following actions:

  1. Spreading the word to inform and educate on wildlife, legislative issues, regulatory matters, scientific findings, management techniques through monthly magazines, Texas Wildlife and Texas Wildlife Extra, and through special mailings, exhibits, and productions.
  2. Cooperating with our friends at Texas Wildlife Association Foundation, Inc. to encourage the participation of all ages in outdoor education, hunting, fishing and wildlife-oriented activities through organized youth hunts, ecology camps, 4-H Enrichment Programs, Project Wild, field trips, and other related educational programs.
  3. Helping organize the Texas Youth Hunting Program (in conjunction with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and other groups) to educate and mentor Texas’ youth in our hunting heritage.
  4. Maintaining a permanent legislative liaison and engaging in proceedings of the state and national legislatures and their committees.
  5. Serving as an information source on Texas wildlife, habitat management, and hunting for Texas and out-of-state journalists, hunters, wildlife managers and the general public.
  6. Monitoring agendas and procedures of animal “rights” and radical “environmental” groups and providing accurate information to members, media, and the public to counteract misrepresentations and half-truths.
  7. Maintaining a full-time office of professional, experienced, responsible, and dedicated paid staff.
  8. Sponsoring periodic conferences and field days on specific topics of member interest, providing speakers and programs for special events and other organizations, and hosting a technical symposium at the annual general membership meeting.
  9. Co-sponsoring (with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department) the popular Texas Big Game Awards program, which honors successful hunters and recognizes achievements by habitat managers and landowners. The TBGA Youth Division recognizes young hunters every year they are successful. The TBGA also welcomes “first-timers” into the fraternity of ethical hunters, and promotes the multi-billion dollar hunting industry in our state.

TWA expects to meet the challenges of preserving our wildlife heritage in a new millennium through strong leadership, expanding membership and a dedication to providing ethical and truthful information about wildlife conservation and our environment. Remember, if you value rural land, hunting, fishing, or agribusiness and want legislation that sensibly reflects these values, TWA needs your support.
