Texas Black Bass Unlimited (T.B.B.U.) is a non-profit organization founded in 1985. Through the efforts of the original handful of conservation minded freshwater fishermen, the organization has grown to become a statewide organization of anglers and other conservation minded individuals today. It was organized and operated solely for educational and charitable purposes.

TBBU's priorities include education of the youth and the general public in conservation and the protection of our Texas fisheries. The protection and propagation of all species of freshwater fish in the State of Texas To improve the water quality in our lakes, rivers, and streams.

In keeping with these priorities, TBBU has accomplished the following:

  1. Contributed over $100,000 toward the completion of the Texas Fresh Water Fisheries Center, an innovative aquarium and hatchery complex managed by the TPWD.
  2. Promoted annual inner-city youth fishing programs to share the joys of fishing and to build character.
  3. Marked dangerous river channels accesses.
  4. Built public fishing piers for the elderly, handicapped, and underprivileged.
  5. Established freshwater habitats in several Texas lakes.
  6. Worked vigorously to oppose legislation relating to our Texas streams, rivers, and lakes that was either harmful or not cost effective. (One of the current projects is the Red River Chloride Project.)
