The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

They've accomplished so much since they were established in 1951:

  1. Protected more than 117 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers worldwide — they operate more than 100 marine conservation projects globally.
  2. They have more than 1 million members.
  3. They work in all 50 states and more than 30 countries — protecting habitats from grasslands to coral reefs, from Australia to Alaska to Zambia.
  4. They address threats to conservation involving climate change, fire, fresh water, forests, invasive species, and marine ecosystems.

It is the work that has made the Conservancy so successful, and makes the Nature Conservancy optimistic that they can expand the conservation work to meet the challenges in the future:

  1. They use a science-based approach — aided by more than 700 of their staff scientists.
  2. They pursue non-confrontational, pragmatic solutions to conservation challenges.
  3. They partner with indigenous communities, businesses, governments, multilateral institutions, other non-profits, and people such as yourself.
