All ya'll bowhunters, are you going to make something bleed Saturday morning or hold out for the big boy? I am going to try to hold out for awhile, unless the big boy shows up, then it's showtime or should I say bowtime!

I'll be hunting on public land and my freezer is empty therefore I'll be letting the air out of anything that comes along worth throwing an arrow at. After I have the first one out of the way I'll be a little more selective....maybe.

Hope to get out Saturday morning on an East TX hunt. I've never killed a deer with my bow, so I will take whatever worthwhile opportunity comes within range. Biggest buck I ever saw from a deer stand was while bow hunting in Wise County, though, and he stayed out at 65 yards or more. Certainly would NOT be disappointed if I see him again this year. . .

I'll let it fly on a doe that does not still have a fawn. I can take 2 this year allowing me to hold out for another really good buck. I think the does are harder to get than the bucks once in bow range. They are so alert!
Good luck to all this weekend,
Tim

I'll be popping any doe or an older buck. I can't wait to have some meat.

Hunting Corps of Engineers land so I'll take any big fat doe that comes along...unless a big buck happens by first....meat for the freezer either way.

I am headed to Thompson Temple tomarrow in the AM. Wish me luck, my first attempt at a animal with a bow. I am looking forward to it.

My son Don, and I will be after meat opening day also. Good luck Matthew, Roy and the rest of you guys. I was of the opinion that south Texas deer tasted the best until we started eating East Texas deer. I don't think so anymore.
Don is looking for a good buck, so he may not shoot anything else. We'll see.

Hey Roy! Good luck! There's no other feeling like taking an animal with your bow. Just focus on a spot and stay in behind your bow all the way thru the shot. You'll do well! Good Hunting! Post some photos when you get back.

Good luck to everybody -- despite my limited experience (and no bow kills YET), there is certainly a different dynamic when you are out there with a bow rather than a firearm! If I get something, you can bet I will take some pics.

I want some meat so something has to expire. I will hope to see one of the good bucks from the pictures but a nice fat doe would do just fine this early in the season.

Good luck guys...hope all of you get one for the freezer or the wall...I won't be making the opener after all....developed an inner ear problem in the right ear so don't think being in a tree stand or even in the woods when I'm not hearing very well would be in my best interest....Get my chance at them next weekend I hope. I expect pictures and stories from everyone who does connect !!! It'll be the next best thing to being there !

Good luck guys!
I'm going to have to hold out till gun season. I'm afraid to bow hunt on my new place, due to neighboring property around that the deer may run to. I don't want to have to deal with the other neighbors trying to retrieve my deer.
So, come gun season, I will drop them in their tracks. Most of the shots will be 25 to 35 yards and I've never had one move after a neck shot.

Don, aaaaah...finally a fellow neck shooter....thought I'd never find another one...my favorite shot (next to a head shot), they don't run and you don't ruin any meat.
