Went over to Dilley Monday to hunt doves. It started out bad - nothing was going right for me and I just couldn't hit a thing. To top it all off had a flat tire late in the day out in the dove field. I had planned to go over to Rockport for a duck hunt for Tuesday but could not find anyone to fix the flat so I stayed in Dilley and hunted dove again yesterday AM. Man am I glad I did..... Limited out in about 1 1/2 hour. Doves everywhere. The red dirt peanut fields were full of hunters. It sounded like a war out there at times. Dawg had an outstanding time as well. Found every bird that I shot and also retrieved one for another hunter as well. After all the shooting was done, she found two birds that had been lost by others that had been down for over an hour in tall sage grass. She slept all the way from Dilley to Katy and is asleep now too!!!!! Probably dreaming of retrieving doves. LOL I have enjoyed dove hunting more the past two or three years than I ever have. Guess its a Dilley thang.
