I drive right by it every time I go hunting at davy crockett national forest, but I never stopped. That survival hunt looks interesting though!

Good luck and happy hunting!

I've seen some deer between 140 and 150 out of the DCNF but they are few and far between. My best is a 120 class 8pt and my buddy shot a P&Y 8pt that went 126. About 5 years ago I saw a 140 class buck during bow season but did not get a shot. My brother and our buddy saw what they said was a 150 class buck chasing a doe the day before season opener but we never caught a glimps of him during the season.

Allen how did you do?

I have hunted at the Langley Ranch that is close to the Smith Ranch.  Last week they took a hog that went 700-800lb at the Langley.

Hey Ike! We did ok but with no game in the cooler.  We hiked forest from 3pm to 9pm in 100+ weather.  We stalked up on 2 150 pounders sleeping in the brush 5 paces from us.  Everything was so hot it wouldn't budge.  I saw two more under my feeder and Jason saw about 20 stalking and at his feeder.  He had his mind set on a trophy and mine was on a good meat hog.  Neither one of us got a shot at what we wanted but it was an excellent trip.  The owner was surprised that that's all we saw and said it should have been around 60-70 hogs but I'm guessing they just were too hot to budge.  I don't think we could have covered more ground.  It was great to get in the woods with my bow though.  I'm not sure if I would have had enough energy to even clean one if I had shot it.

I was at the Langly mid-June.

I bought a bow and couldn't wait to get out and give it a try.  I hadn't shot a bow since I was a kid so I figured I better at least practice for a week.

I did manage to kneecap one, that's when I brought out the 25-06.

My son got a nice one.

I wanted to ask you Allen, I am new to bow hunting and in one of your pics it shows your bow and it looks like mech broadheads.  I have heard that mech are not desired for hogs???  what broadheads do you use?

Nice pictures

They are not mechanicals. I have heard the same thing and there are some ranches that won't even let you use them. Personally I think the policy first should be that you can't shoot at something more than 20 yards away because I think that's the number one reason people wound game and never retrieve it - too far of shots. I'm not sure what brand mine are. I can't find the box and they're a couple years old, but they are 3 razor and fixed. With them I've shot 1 javelina, 2 turkey, 2 does and a buck, and an elk and never had anything close to not being found.

Hey guys. Centerville has a lot to offer in the pig market. Some of you have been talking about the Langley ranch. My wife is related through her grandmother to the Langleys. From what I hear they have some amazing pigs. I now first hand....I have property on the other side of 811 some of you might know of the road. I have seen some monster pigs and seen the tracks. We have a hog trap set up on my property and they trasport them to a game finced area at the Langley Ranch. Joes brother Ronnie has property surrounding mine with a couple of traps. Well like i said the bigs are grat and are in good number!!!
