I am counting down the days till I can go.  I'm heading to the range here today to pattern my gun. I've had turkey on the mind for a while now.  I'll be heading north to Awuilla WMA for the weekend whenever I get the chance this year.  Its a long drive from San Antonio but there aren't many options down this way for public land turkeys. Hopefully I can bag my first bird this season.

I have one Turkey/hog hunt planned down near Gonzales but that will probably be it for me with the whitebass and Hybrid/Striper heating up. I love this time of year when the fishing gets really hot. I also have to move all my equipment off of the lease as we will not be returning but that will be done this Saturday. I wish you guys the best of luck.

I went out this past weekend and the gobblers haven't really started to gobble as yet - maybe the weather hasn't been warm enough. The bluebonnets are starting to bloom but a lot of the otehr wild flowers haven't come out yet. I had about 5 jakes in one pack that I was talking to and also heard maybe two larger gobblers (I may have spooked them). May try to go back this weekend.
