Just a couple of notes on lines and how I use them. I would like to know what works for you too.

Braids: I like stren super braid and power pro. I use these in moderate visibility on worms, jigs, and top waters. I like the extra strength and castability. I dislike the line coming out of the hooks eye, and wrapping the rod tip sometomes. I try to close the eye with pliers but it doesn't always work.

Mono: I like trilene XL. I use this on cranks, spinners, top water, and crappie fishing or using bait. I stick with XL because I hate memory. Clear water it's a must. On big fish and heavy cover it will break. I only use low visibility too.

Floro carbon: Use on leaders sometimes. Good to add to braid as leader material with a double uni knot. I don't use it much. The cost of the braid is enough damage to the pocket book.

Looks as if you have the subject covered well. I am 72 and still working and don't fish much. Just wait until the Job is over and I retire again. I have a reel loaded with spider wire 40 lb and some with 8 lb Trilene XL and the big ones with 35 lb mono.

On the subject of line I like Stren Original. In normal use I reel up 17lb on my worm and jig rod's, 14lb on soft plastic baits like flukes or senkos, rattletraps. topwater poppers and spinnerbaits, 12lb to 10lb on crankbaits depending on the deepth of that bait. If I feel a need for braid I like Stren or Power Pro.

Update: I had to buy some florocarbon. Conroe is just too clear to fish mono. The bite has been better since the change.

Just a note on stren mono, I hate the stuff! I got a bad run of it several years ago. I changed several of my reels to 16 pound test. The first fish I hooked was huge 12+ and she broke right through it. I broke 3 more fish off that day after that. Will never ever use it again. Love the braid though.
