how to keep coons out of my hog traps

I have three traps out and the coons are tearing my corn up. I have diesel on it too. I have heard of just putting motor oil and hydraulic fluid in the trap and the hogs will come and the coons wont. Any suggestions on how to rid the coon problem besides a .22 cuz I always have one around waiting on the corn robbing bastards. My next step may have to be chicken wire???

Colby, have you tried to bury the corn in a post hole app. 2' down with 1' dirt on top as a cap?coons generaly dont dig that deep.

and

If all suggestions you get here do not work soak some corn in 100% antifreeze for 3 days and then put it out where only coons can get to it. With in a week the group that has taken up residence near your traps( coon corn feeding station) will be  no more. end of problem. I hate to hit them that hard, but it seems from you posting that you are near the end of your rope on this one.

Golden Malrin fly bait from tractor supply mixed with corn. Supposed to kill them 30 minutes after eating it.

thanks I have dun the post hole and actually shot a coon digging up the dirt. I'm in coon heaven I think had 6 to 8 in my pics at one time many times. Counter in a bucket up a tree might be next.

Be careful on poisons it kills the other animals that eat them. Mr game warden will have a field day on you with dead vultures and or hawks around. You can also use foot traps nearby and start picking the coons off.

Diesel-laced corn works well but be careful where you put it.  Had a trap under an oak tree in my yard and the diesel leached into the root system and came real close to killing the tree.  Mama wasn't happy...got the hog and the tree recovered for a happy ending.

Colby, some of what Scott has posted is his own fear. I researched the problem at TPWD and below is  a copy and paste all in red is from their website

NUISANCE FUR-BEARING ANIMALS

Landowners or their agents may take nuisance fur-bearing animals in any number by any means at any time on that person's land without the need for a hunting or trapping license. However, fur-bearing animals or their pelts taken for these purposes may not be retained or possessed by anyone at any time except licensed trappers during the lawful open season and possession periods.

Nuisance fur-bearing animals may be captured and relocated if the person has received authorization from the department and the owner of the property where the release will occur. A monthly report is required and must be submitted to the department on number and kind of fur-bearers captured, location of release site, name and address of person authorized to release.

it seems easier to kill them than relocate them and that is ass backwards.

any time by any means seems clear enough, because it is your personal property!

True. However any non target animals killed directly or indirectly as a result of the poison would subject you to fine or arrest

Get a good flashlight or spotlight and shotgun, go to your feeder at about 2 hours after dark and blast them out of the trees. It's fun if you got some kids and you know what gets killed. Better than spreading poison.

It is true that you can use the above mentioned products for the desired result.  However, you do run into a grey area because it's not the intended use of the poison it is also true that you can kill non-target animals as well.  B

Be very careful what you post in a open forum and use in the field.
