WATER PUMP ISSUE

The cabin on the lease has sinks, shower, and toilet but no water. We have to get the water from a nearby stream. We installed a 350 gallon storage tank next to the cabin, and a pressure pump inside the cabin to give us at least 50 psi at all the faucets, etc. The problem is getting the water from the stream to the tank. The cabin is about 150' from the stream, and about 30' higher than the streambed. Does anyone know the cheapest way to pump the water from the stream to the tank at that distance and elevation?

We can get it there from the cabin. We have guys who know how to run electricity and water lines.

They make several types of submersible pumps that can be used. I would suggest a trash pump that way you dont have to worry about anything you suck up damaging the pump. And they are not that costly. I will get back to you with the modle that I would suggest. Thats what I do for a living work on wells and pumps. lol

Here is what I did on a lease. Installed gutters on the cabin and ran them to the storage tank put a submeciable pump in the tank plumed to the lines in the cabin with a plain water hose and hose clamp. Throw in a cup or so of bleach when the tank gets water in it and your done. You would be suprised how fast the tank will fill with water. I used that method for years. The water was used for washing dishes hands and showers.

Sounds good and I think it solves the problem. I suggested something like that, but my "experts" wanted to do it another way.

There is a nother way that does not involve electricity. Search the internet to find a "ram pump" they only require a 3' drop from intake to pump  to hydraulicaly pump water 200' high  and several miles using  no electricity.  it uses the kenetic energy of moving water to compress air in a chamber that then pushes water up the pressure pipe to the cabin, you can even feed a trough for the wildlife. just place a drain at the level you want in the tank  and run it back to the creek and you will have a continous supply of  fresh non potable water in your full tank place the tank above the cabin and you will have a gravity feed to the cabin works even when the electricity is down..
