The Guadalupe River is fishing better than it has all year.  The flows have been pretty consistent around 500 cfs.  The fish are spread out and have been very active the last week or so.  Water conditions have limited wade fishing access and pressure which has really improved the float fishing.  Warmer weather has also sparked some of the best bug activity we've seen this year on the Guad.  Great hatches of tricos, BWOs, baetis and midges have been consistent the last few weeks and the fish have been very responsive.  The high water levels have also made attractor patterns much more successful.  The average size of fish being caught lately has ranged between 15 and 18 inches with bigger specimens being caught on a daily basis.  Hot patterns have included san juan worms, eggs, golden stones, hares ears, mercury p-tails, bts nymphs, killer mayflies, trico and midge emergers.  High flows have also allowed us to use heavier test tippet and much more weight to get flies down quick.  Visit www.guadalupetrout.net to get out there for some of the hottest fishing of the year.  Tight lines.
