Mulie Success!

Over the past 20 years I've been bow hunting trophy Mulies during the rut in New Mexico.  There have been many blown opportunities, missed shots, and a two bad hits that were non-lethal.  I've managed to kill a couple of small bucks but nothing to get really excited about.

The coolest part of hunting the rut is the chance to see these magnificent animals interact with each other.  I have seen many big mulies fighting over the years but generally all that commotion is what what drew my attention from a good distance away.

While tracking a smaller buck on Saturday I noticed that his intention was to do battle with an as yet unseen buck.  The ensuing battle was the opening I needed that allowed me to cover the last 50 yards quickly putting me withing 20 yards of this fierce battle.  I was able to put an arrow into this buck at only 15 yards what a great hunt!
