Waterfowl Hunting on Texas Lakes?

Does anyone know the regulations or rules to hunting on a lake in Texas?  Can you just go scout out an area on a lake and hunt?  Are there restrictions to what and where you may hunt?

I have tried to find info on this but all I get is TPWD Public land hunts.  I live near a very wooded lake in North Texas and was wanting to begin hunting on it.  I was just wanting some information.

TPWD puts out a Migratory Guide each year which outlines the basic regulations for the State and Feds. These may be obtained at most places that sell Hunting Liscense or downloaded from the TPWD site. There are other rules & regs  for many Water Bodies in the State though. You may need to get info from the Control Athority of the lake you have in mind. If it is a Corps Lake you can likely get the info and maps of the hunting areas from them or on the web.
