They eat corn right up to door but won't go inside. Any tips?

I have trapped many hogs and I have learned that the more they are trapped the smarter they get.

Try using molases mixed with corn and only put it inside the trap. I have found that putting bait leading to the trap lets the hog feed before it goes in and the smart ones will lose interest.

Also the bigger the trap the more willing they are to go in. I have had the most success with pen traps. I use a 15 foot diameter trap in most cases with a swing door. And normally catch more than one at a time, I have had up to six at one time.

Had a metal floor trap once, hogs would not go in it.Removed floor and caught several. They got smart and quit going in,then i covered the whole trap with palmetto and other debris.Seemed to help, caught a few more.

CORN SOAKED IN WATER FOR A FEW WEEKS WORKS THE BEST FOR ME.. WHEN ITS REALLY STINKY THOSE HOGS JUST CANT RESIST.. IF YOU DONT START CATCHING HOGS SOON, THEN MOVE TRAP TO DIFFERENT LOCATION WHERE YOU THINK THOSE HOGS ARE HANGING OUT THE MOST AND BRUSH IN TRAP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE A WIRE BOTTOM TRAP THEN JUST COVER BOTTOM OF CAGE WITH DIRT. THAT SHOULD HELP YOU CATCH MORE BACON.. GOOD LUCK

Yep, those tips are all good ones. Corn and Molassses or peanuts and the floor thing. We put plywood and then threw dirt on top of the plywood floor. Gets bloody and that's another problem. They smell blood so when they get trap smart, you need to scrub the trap down with bleach and let it sit for awhile to get that smell off. It's really best if you don't kill them in the trap but that's not easy to do either. Move the traps after a few catches too to fresh ground and territory. Hogs are smart and they do get trap smart.

A Family that Hunts together, stays together. (unless they leave me home!)

This might be a worthwhile tip: Use a good spray bottle filled with Hydrogen Peroxide and spray it liberally to remove your scent from the trap. What guide Girl Wendy says about the blood is right on I think. Probably every different kind of trap that I have cauht an animal in would not catch another until de-scented.

I will also mention putting a 1/4 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide in your urine bottle, jug or whatever else you might use for the purpose takes care of the odor problem.
