Although rain has been received across most of the state, the drought effects on the land and natural resources still linger. Plus, living in Texas, landowners and land managers know drought is never far away so being prepared to manage your land, livestock and wildlife is an important aspect of any ranch management plan.

Landowners and land managers will have an opportunity on Fri., Oct. 30 to learn how to “Manage Wildlife During a Drought” at the Pescadito Ranch, 12 miles east of Laredo, off of Highway 359 from Loop 20. The workshop will include top-notch instructors who are experts in their respective fields. The event is being hosted by the Webb Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

   * Deer Management 101
   * Hunting regulations and special permits
   * Pescadito Ranch Deer Management Program
   * Balancing Deer Numbers and Habitat before the next drought
