As part of the 2009 Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC), members of the Professional Anglers Association (PAA) will be joined by some special guests from the C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation and their Houston, TX Chapter. Together the groups will host a once in a lifetime opportunity for disabled and disadvantaged children at this year’s TTBC, allowing the children to fish Lake Conroe with some of the nation’s top anglers.
On Sunday, October 18, 2009 PAA anglers will be paired with these children, along with their caretakers from the Houston Shriner’s Hospital, for some fun and relaxing fishing on Lake Conroe. The event will wrap-up on the

Toyota Texas Bass Classic event grounds, where anglers will participate in a group luncheon and personal meet and greet with all the C.A.S.T. participants and their families.
“It is just a tremendous opportunity for these special needs children, said Jim Owens, Executive Director of the C.A.S.T. Foundation. “Not only do they get a chance to go fishing; which they would not be able to do otherwise, but they get to do it with some of the best fisherman in the world.”
C.A.S.T. “Catch a Special Thrill” for Kids Foundation is a public charity that was formed in 1991 to join volunteers who love to fish, with disabled and disadvantaged children for a day of fishing in the outdoors. The C.A.S.T. for Kids Program and Events are designed to create an environment whereby special needs children and their caretakers could benefit, leaving their problems on shore and sharing a day of fun on the water. |
PAA President John Crews stated, “This is not the first time for many of our PAA anglers to work with C.A.S.T. for Kids, but the TTBC will likely be one of the largest venues to date for this great cause. I am looking forward to our anglers helping make lifetime memories.”
In addition to the outing, the PAA has also designated a portion of the proceeds from the upcoming Professional Anglers’ Auctions to benefit C.A.S.T. The auctions are scheduled to start Friday, September 18, 2009 and will be hosted through eBay and the “Giving Works” program. Those interested in supporting C.A.S.T. and the PAA, can do so through these auctions of one of kind fishing memorabilia.
