My goals are just to MAINTAIN.  With the drought we have had in Mexico this year, I will be very hesitant to pull the trigger on anything this year.  I haven't pulled the trigger in a couple of years so another year won't hurt anything.  As long as I get to spend some quality time down at the ranch with the family and friends then I am all set!  My day will come soon enough when I get to drop that Giant I am have been waiting for.  They just get older and bigger every year, so there's really no hurry!  I saw a couple of really nice deer last year that would have been really nice this year but i think they will have to wait another year.  Good Luck to all!!!

I have a lot of goals this year. Some important projects I am working on that look like they will pan out. Really interesting hunting products.

Not too worried about killing a deer. I probably will, though.

Keep yer eyes peeled!

1) Would like to get my first bow kill

2) Would like to kill a nice mature 140+ and should have a good opportunity to do it

3) Want to try and keep my food plots up and running all year, but coaching makes that tough.

The first goal will be for my sons to enjoy their time out in the wild with their dad, and for them to learn more about the outdoors, the disciplines that go along with being a responsible and ethical hunter, as well as proper hunting techniques.  My eldest son will be hunting by himself for the first time...and I'm praying that he will safely make wise choices.

The second goal is to get some meat for the freezer.  Hopefully we'll be able to take an axis deer or two.  That stuff is hard to beat for wild game table fare.  And, we just finished-up out last bags of whitetail from last year.

Third is one of us getting a nice buck.  We saw two last year that were about 1 year away from 'greatness', and with the rain our neck of the woods got horn quality should be very good.

Hardy - by the way I'm sorry to hear that your dad went through all those medical challenges.  Glad he's doing OK.

To get my daughter back out in the stand with me. And to take my son out for his first time.

Guns don't kill people....Its those pesky little bullets making lots of holes that all the blood leaks out of.

How does the dove hunting look this weekend around the Yorktown vacinity?

The hunting is a little slow unless you can hunt over old milo field or some thong of the sort. There are a lot of birds but they are staying bunched up and flying in large groups not giving many chances to shoot.

Thanks for the reply.  I hunted over a little water hole on the Shendell Ranch southwest of Yorktown last season and it seemed to be pretty good later in the season. Hoping to take my son-in-law and grandson the next couple of weeks......lot of hogs......

This year will be my second year hunting after 6 years handicapped and unable to hunt.  Last year was disappointing.

Last year I was successful in getting my 19 year old nephew hooked and this year I want to repeat with his 12 year old brother.  I want to spend quality time at the lease with my adult son and his wife.  I am trying to figure out how to get my first grandchild (he's 3 months old) out there.  Mostly, I want to enjoy nature away from phones and faxes, relax and refresh myself, enjoy the bounty God has provided for me and for my family and friends.
