Bad San Saba lease

Signed a contract last year to be on a lease in San Saba just down the road from Tommy Lee Jones's ranch. The landowner day hunted all around our 400 acres, he went through Jimmie Faulkner on some of this. Some of the day hunters hunted on our lease in our blinds! We saw them and even talked to them, they were from Florida and totally innocent. Jimmie gave them no guidance on where they were allowed to hunt. They were as upset as we were. They shot a doe and 4 point on our lease.

We've had a lot of problems with this landowner, some timers and batteries went missing out of our feeders after the season along with one of our blinds and some sleeping bags. He doesn't care and will not do anything about it. He got his $10,000 from us and that's all he cares about. Is there anything we can do? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. I do not want anyone else to cheated by this crook like we were.

And all the leases he found for us was a bunch of small acreage propertys that all the land owners wanted was $$$$$ they day hunted the hell out of some of the places we looked at was nothing but a big headache he is a CROOK and should be banned from these hunting sites he still posts hunts under his name and some under a Connie something... Bewarw of this guy and Happy Hunting.....

Yeah, it's been very discouraging. Tough lesson learned. We trusted the landowner too much before we new anything about him.

We did actually sign a contract. We were just going to let it go and take it as a loss until the landowner's total disregaurd for what happened and unwillingnes to help just made us sick. We just want the landowner to learn a lesson that he can't treat people this way. Would we have to find the dayhunters from Florida, as witnesses to the breaking of the contract, to be able to do anything about this?

I thought this was familuar.                                                                                         Check this posting  http://www.texashuntfish.com/app/view/Post/21698/bad-lease   I would bet this is the same lease and there are two crooks working together.

I read that posting and that has to be same land owner. His name is Rodney Norris, if anyone ever comes across this guy, DO NOT LEASE FROM HIM! It's a war zone every weekend with all the day hunters, which makes it impossible to manage, and there aren't any bucks on his land. We didn't see anything that resembled a shooter, sometimes we didn't see anything at all, which is just ridiculous for that area.

Yep...that's a  bad story.  What did you decide to do?  This is a perfect example of why I quit leasing from landowners and started my own place.  It seems like some landowners are always trying to pull a fast one on you...

The only thing we've done is get off of the lease. I dont really know of anything else I can do. We are just out all of the money we paid him and our sleeping bags, blinds, timers, and batteries from our feeders. I wish there was something I could do to keep him from doing this to someone else. As far as I know we legally can't do anything unless we found the day hunters from Florida that hunted there. I wish we had caught there names.

Jacob,

Can you tell me where exactly the lease was? I hunt very very close to where you mentioned, have had a a lease for five years and would like to know. I have actually met some of the guys mentioned in the replies. If you're not comfortable putting it here you can email me oldcamo@hotmail.com. I just want to be informed on who, what, and where so I can keep an eye on my place and make the landowner I lease from aware of possible trespassers. The landowner I lease from is a very honest man and hasn't taken advantage of me at all, but I don't want any random hunters thinking my blinds are fair game and he doesn't either. Please keep me informed. I'm heading there this weekend. I appreciate it.

FYI, by "met the guys you mentioned" I mean I have met them in town at a bar that was closed a few years back. I am definitely not friends with any of them, just met them with my dad while watching football. I simply googled san saba deer hunting to research the rut and saw this and it has me effectively worried. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks.

HAPPY

Guys, I'm really sorry that u had such a bad time.  I leased this past season from Rodney Norris.  Right off the bat he told me that he made no guarantees and that he wanted the money immediately.  I'm glad I went ahead and paid him immediately because I had the hunting experience of my life.  Within the first 2 hours that I was at my blind, I had a 12=point trophy buck pissing on my boot.  I hit it over the head with the end of my 3030 Remington and then proceeded to chase it on foot shooting practically aimlessly because of the heavy brush.  The rest is history.  You may come and admire my rack any time you want.  I would like to thank that SOB for encouraging me to act upon the matter immediately.  Thank you very much Mr. Rodney Norris for the opportunity to hunt.
