i hunt in weimar texas a few miles from the colorado river and columbus.  where exactly in columbus?  I shot a 137 with a split brow tine last year, there are mostly 8 pointers out there and most will get tall and thin before they get wide.  how many acres did u lease and for how much? just getting a general idea for this part of texas, since i own

I meant tall and narrow....expect to see alot of typical 8's that score between 110-135.

Matt - About $25 per acre.  Small place but not much hunting pressure around us and a central location between Houston and Austin.

You are right about tall and narrow 8 pointers.  That is what we are mostly seeing (although it has only been a couple of weeks).

Please tell me that buck in the back of your truck came from around Weimar!

yes it did....the best part is we shot it off 25 acres.  my uncle shot a 115 ten pointer on 25 acres too and my brother shot a 110 eight pointer on our land too. 

how manya acres did u lease?  i know some schindlers in flatonia which is down the road bout 30 mins

spent a LOT of time out there hunting and only had one legal buck to shoot

and we hunted hard

hunted all day numerous times

tons of does, but couldn't shoot any

never again in a no doe county

what did yall end up seeing/shooting? We blasted the hell out of MANY DOES!!!!! shot 2 spikes also thats it. I was after one 8 pt and neighbor who has stand 200 yards from me shot him, he was 15 1/2 inches wide and scored 126. he was nice but woulda maybe hit 140 next year w good rain and protein/cottonseed. All we have is does and 1.5 year olds on camera for the last month but I know there are a few 13-15 inch 2.5 year old 8's that made it.  So we will see. next year should be better then this year bc of the extreme drought this year and for us we shot alot of does so there will be more nutrition for the remaining bucks

I purchased 10 acres in Columbus Texas, I know i have to have a doe permit to harvest Doe. Can i harvest a buck with a 13 inch or bigger spread on my property?
