Always wanted to do some freshwater trout fishing here in Texas, but not the ponds they stock in the wintertime.  I've heard that they stay year round below a big dam or reservoir but I don't remember where exaclty that was.  May have been where your talking about.

There's some great trout fishing up in Arkansas in the White and Buffalo rivers near Cotter, Ark.  Depending on where you live in Texas its less than a day's drive.  I've gone several times - you can get a cabin pretty inexpensively and really don't need a boat, although there are many up there to rent.

I've heard of trout fishing on the Guadalupe but have never been.
