Houston -

While Richard Louv and his "Last Child in the Woods" efforts are prominent features at the WildLife 2009 next week, several Texas Wildlife Association volunteers made sure this week that 34 Houston youth were given a chance to connect with the outdoors and nature at a special camp in the Hill Country.

The weeklong youth camp at the Donna and Royce Faulkner Ranch allowed Houston-area youth to enjoy outdoor education and activities such as laser shot, archery, mold creations of wildlife tracks, participate in hunter education activities, and enjoy nature walks and wildlife observation activities. At the conclusion of the camp, many of the attendees received a Hunter Education Certification, which will now allow them to participate in future TWA Texas Youth Hunting Program opportunities.

The youth camp was led and organized by HISD Agricultural Teachers Cecario "CG" Guerrero, Laura Franks Calhoun, and TYHP-trained Huntmasters.
