Several TWA members were honored for their excellence in wildlife habitat management and land stewardship at the TPWD Lone Star Land Steward Awards on May 27 in Austin.

The awards program, of which TWA is a Silver Sponsor, recognized land stewards and private ranches in various ecological regions across the state, in addition to recognizing honorees in two other categories-wildlife management association and corporate/public.

The Leopold Conservation Award, the program's highest award, was presented to J. David Bamberger of the Selah, Bamberger Ranch Preserve in Blanco County. Bamberger is a TWA Member. The Leopold Conservation Award is sponsored by the Sand County Foundation, an international non-profit organization devoted to private lands conservation.

TWA Members honored with a TPWD Lone Star Land Steward Award:

*Dove Creek Ranch, Irion/Tom Green counties, Dove Creek Partnership, Ruth Flournoy, general partner
*Wildcat Mountain Ranch, Coke County, Hollis and Tony Farris, owners/operators
*Western Navarro Bobwhite Recovery Cooperative, Jimmie Stewart, president
*San Christoval Ranch, Karnes/Live Oak counties, Dr. Lacy H. Williams, and Lacy H. Williams II and family, owners, Mark Walter, operator.
