Before you head out, better check all the new changes that are happening as of Sept. 1, 2009.

We went to the TPWD commissioners meeting, and there are going to be changes to Lake Texoma, Lewisville, and a few others. Blue catfish were one of the changes.

Also, only one alligator gar per person, per day any size. Another big change is FLOUNDER. The new limit will be a bag of 5 per day from 10 for Sportsmen, and 30 per day for commercial fishermen from 60.

A few radicals were there to try and close Flounder for the months of November through January. One group, CCA wanted it closed for the whole month of November.

Trinity county

it has been years since i even caught 5 on rod and reel in one day.  5 is enough to eat, but the 30 for commercial fishermen is not gonna help the flounder that much.

Sorry Conchoman. It's due to people coming into Texas to fish for "trophy" alligator gar. This change includes and knocks out commercial fishermen too to one per day. At least they didnt limit us to only one and over 7 foot long per year.

They used info from "other" states, and the one and only study out of Texas that was done from 1986-1988, (21 years ago) and I testified this study was obsolete, and  this proposal should not be voted on at this time until they gained recent data/ info from Texas Fisheries and Sportsmen. The sponsor noted this would parallel Oklahoma and Lake Texomas rules, and Texas SHOULD reciprocate. They already had thier minds made up. We testified 10-1 against but they passed it anyway. Totally disregarding commercial fishermen who begged not to take away thier livelyhood.
