What are the chances that we could have more than one picture gallery?
It would be pretty neat if we could seperate pics taken by all the folks here on the site and the pics that are just taken from the web somewhere and posted in the gallery.
While I'm asking, I'll be greedy and ask for a third that would be for trail cam pics. I, for one, enjoy them and would like to be able to look at them consecutively and then move on to other shots on the site.
Just a thought.

Most of that cut and paste web stuff should be posted in the wild on the web forum.
I too enjoy trail cam pix, but not necessarily every dog, hog and chipmunk caught on film. I like seeing those nice bucks though!
Keep yer eyes peeled!

I agree guys, that's a good idea. I really like the idea of a gallery for pics that we personally take.

I agree, if I want to see web pics I will surf the web. I have always enjoyed looking at the photos that everyone else has personally taken. The constant web shots for points has gotten really old really fast and has taken away from what I believe the photo gallery was intended for. I have been reading the posts and looking at the pics on this website for over two years now and have it as my home page on my laptop though I seldom log on unless I actually have something meaningful to contribute. The constant flooding of the gallery of useless web pics for points has become a real pet peave with me. It takes away from the spirit of community on the site. If you don't have something to actually meaningful to contribute to the community that has made this site the great place that it is, please read, Don't post. This is only one man's opinion.

cut and paste just stinks! I personally will only post pics I took myself, or taken by friends of me or family that have to do with hunting or fishing. ( or possibly a place I'd dearly love to hunt or fish) Pics of food would be posted with recipes.
And ok I gotta say this, though you guys will probably groan....or worse....if I want to see very scantily clad gals with nice plastic surgery, I'll go buy a magazine!
Hardy, I like your idea very much!

While we're posting a wish list, how about one for pics and/or stories for hunts outside of Texas since there are many of us that take trips every year. It would be great to show events/places outside of Texas that took place during a hunting trip.

Ron, Please don't forget to post pics from your PA hunt (I'm assuming you're going this year). Would love to see them. I plan on getting to the Williamsport area on business, but probably not before hunting season.
Paul - you're not alone on the picture overload bit at all. After looking at all these posts there are a lot of us that think the same way...its aggravating to have all those pictures posted just for points, especially when they crowd out the good ones.
As well, it doesn't appear to me that udamdan feels alienated at all. I may be wrong about that, but I think the single objective of his energies on this site is that first place prize.

I am not saying we have alienated him yet, I just believe today's society tend's to point a finger and make an outcast. I just felt like it needed to be stated for everyone to keep in the back of their mind. In NO way do I believe anyone that has posted on this has alienated him.

Wow! Thanks to everyone for their input. I would like to throw out an idea that I have had, and we hope to implement this winter. Please give us your thoughts on it.
My idea is that you can have photo "albums" that you upload to the photo gallery. So, perhaps you have a bunch of feeder pics - rather than taking up a whole page on the gallery, it just shows one of the pics, with an icon that lets you know that it's not one picture, but a gallery. You could do this for hunting trips, etc. By doing this, you have a bunch of photo albums under your account, and you could send your friends links to a photo album of your last hunting trip, with details, etc for each photo.
If we did this, I was also thinking that it might be beneficial to create a plugin for Picasa so that you could use Picasa on your desktop to organize the albums, and then with a single click, you could upload the entire album to the site. What are your thoughts? Would that be beneficial?
Keep the feedback coming! We definitely have some of the same concerns that you have mentioned here, and are looking for creative ideas to address them.
Hardy - think of this as not just creating "three" photo galleries - but you can create dozens of your own!
We also thought of allowing tagging of photos, so that you could browse by tag. Thoughts?
Thanks!!!

Jeremy - I like what you're suggesting...great ideas. Cuts down on what you see up front volume and allows others to browse as they're interested.

I really like the photo gallery as it has existed. I genuinely enjoy seeing good pictures taken by members, family and friends that document successes, beauty, and other interesting aspects of the outdoors as it is related to hunting and fishing.
The problem has just risen in the last few weeks, and seems to be driven by one or two folks.
Why not just get some moderators, and delete (and the associated points) these cut and paste inernet pix?
Problem solved. I would be happy to help moderate the site.
Keep yer eyes peeled!

Hello everyone! Thank you for your feedback. You have made some very valid points.
1) If there is a picture that you, or someone you know, personally took and you want to share it, please post it in the Photo Gallery. This is a place for your photos from the blind, from your feeders, from a day on the lake, etc.
2) If there is a picture you found on the internet taken by someone else and you'd like to share it with the community, post it in one of the forum categories that relates to the photo.
HOWEVER, I understand that there is the occassional photo you receive through email or find online and it has a good story to accompany it. Use your judgement with those. See if it's already been posted in the photo gallery before and if it hasn't, go ahead and post it, why not? We just ask that you use good judgement.
I have contacted "udamdan" to clarify what the photo gallery is for and how it is to be used.
Hopefully this will help maintain the quality and integrity of our site.

We have deleted every photo posted by "udamdan" that we feel is either inappropriate or not his original work. It is hard to tell sometimes.
The Rewards System will run an audit and recalculate accordingly. Please understand this is not a real-time process.
We have communicated with udamdan the types of content we like to share, how to use the forum "back at camp" and "wild on the web" for certain types of content, and how we would like the photo gallery to be used. I think Diana did a perfect job above explaining this point.
We are flattered by the offers to help us moderate the site. We have a "flag this item" icon in the forum which is rarely used. In our next release this icon will also show up in the photo and video galleries. This will allow anyone willing to help to moderate the site by simply clicking on this icon.
I can't begin to tell you how happy it makes me to see our members share the passion that Diana, Jeremy, Chris, John, Debra and I have for keeping the quality of the website.
At the end of the day, if the quality photographers on this site quit using the photo gallery, that would defeat the purpose.

------
In response to that I would like to bring to your attention that TexasHuntFish.com welcomes photos, videos and stories of Texans hunting around the world. If you go on a trip, please feel free to share it with us.
For example, members have shown photos from National Parks in the USA, even as far as Africa.
We just want a direct connection to Texas - either because it was in Texas or because you are from Texas and want to share something with our community.
