Obama said yesterday he'd consider Al Gore as a potential cabinet member.   I'll probably say this again before the election's over...now I've heard it all.  Gore has elevated his global warming theories to that of a religion, and now some folks say recent weather patterns might have actually have him more in a panic mode.  Either way, the more I look at him, when you consider what he 'worships', the more unstable he appears.  Maybe its just me...but I don't think so.

If any of you guys out there are seriously thinking about voting for Obama, consider not only what he says (that's troublesome enough in itself when he's not in 'doublespeak' mode), but who he pals around with.  Ought to be a real wake-up call.

?.....we have been warming since the last Ice age, thats why everything from Oklahoma-north is not under 20 feet of Ice!

But then again it did snow in Bahgdad this year for the first time since the Garden of Eden was between the Tigris and Euphrates!

Rodney,

No - 100's (not hundreds of thousands) of scientists, many of which have a political agenda...just like Al Gore.

If you believe in global warming, then answer me these three questions, with factual scientific coherence and not politically-charged hype:

1.) Give a valid explanation for the Medieval Warming Period and Little Ice Age.  These were proven events that occurred way before there was even a thought about an internal combustion engine.

2.) Disprove the results of the Wegman report, compiled by a group of statisticians in 2006 that evaluated the statistical approach used in supposed support some of our recent GW theories (the Mann report specifically).  The link is to the actual testimony provided to the House Energy and House subcomittee, who requested his team prepare the report.  By the way, Dr. Wegman is chair of the National Research Council, an arm of the National Academy of Sciences.

3.) Explain to me why some of these same 'scientists' that support the theory of GW were decrying global cooling about 30 years ago.

Don't believe everything you hear...Global Warming caused by greenhouse gas emmissions is a lie.  Just remember - Al Gore invented the internet.  Imagine what he would be as head of the EPA.

There are several sides to the global warming debate.  It's not just 'does global warming exist?'. Most scientists do agree that there is some type of global warming going on.  What the left doesn't put out in these stats, is that, of the scientists who believe in GW there is a near even split.  One side says that it is caused by humans, the other half says that is part of the Earths natural cycle. So your idea of scientists said so therefore its true doesn't really mean much.  They dissagree, so obviously they can't all be right.  I would lean more to the natural cycle side just considering that there wern't too many "Ice Age" SUV's running around to melt the two thirds of the world that used to be under ice.

Guns don't kill people....Its those pesky little bullets making lots of holes that all the blood leaks out of.

Warren was head of the Warren Report that sold the US on a magic bullet that killed Kennedy and hit John Connally not once but twice.  Paid enough....people can and will contrive the truth (refering to Wegman).

Al Gore may have invented the internet but bUSH invented WMD's in Iraq.  What has that cost us David?

Rodney,

You're skirting the issue.  If we're going to discuss the subject of this thread let's do it with FACTS that pertain to the subject, not "politically-charged hype" (see above post).

I'd love to have a FACTUAL discussion with you concerning WMDs on another thread - perhaps you can start one.  But for now, let's stick to the subject of this thread.

By the way...to address one of your comments the Wegman committee did their work pro bono.  That is, without compensation.

Can you provide proof that this was done pro-bono?  Can you also prove that there was not a grant attached to another one of Mr. Wegman's studies that was given because of this study?  Thats the way most of this crap works.  "You do this for me I'll do this for you".

Politically charged hype?  That is the pot calling the kettle black Mr. HALIBURTON (you related to the oilies?)!!!!!!!  It seems that everyone of your threads has to do with knocking the Dems.

Seems as an outdoorsman you'd be more concerned with the environment and not with trying to prove that going green is a bad idea.  Tell me David, what is being more eco friendly going to hurt?  You gettin' some kind of oil royalties?  You in jeapordy of losing money if we find other fuel alternatives?

Rodney,

Again, you're skirting the issue.  If you read the report itself (available online) you will note that they stated in print their report was done pro-bono.  Its under the Executive Summary.

Let's face it - even the most biased of observers realizes that this subject is controversial and politically-charged, hence my statement about hype.  Anyone who believes that the issue is settled and the results are scientifically resolved is greatly misinformed.  Anthropogenic global warming (i.e. earth temperature increases resulting solely from human-generated greenhouse gas emissions) at the very best is a scientific debate that's far from over.  At the very worst we have a group of people attempting a massive global power grab.  The results, if we are wrong about either side of this argument, have colossal repercussions.  But, I've yet to see any conclusive data that convinces me that less than 0.03% percent change in the atmosphere's carbon dioxide levels contribute to the GW we think we are seeing, in light of the other cyclical warming phenomena that have been historically proven to exist.  And, I'm even more skeptical when I see the proponents of GW legislation, and their histories, like Al Gore, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, etc..  Looking at history as an American, not a Republican, Democrat, or otherwise, we as a nation have strongly resisted big government and government control.  That is, until recently.

I will be more than happy to discuss facts concerning the other issues you bring-up, perhaps on another thread (like the WMDs earlier).  But again, if you want me or anyone else on this board to take your claims seriously please address the 3 points I brought-up earlier.  So far, you haven't.

There are at least 2 volcanos that have been erupting continuously now for over 2 years. They will do way more to warm the earth than man ever could. Let's outlaw volcanos!

By the tone and accusatory nature of his responses to you David, I think he feels as though he is backed into a corner and has no verifyable answers to provide you. I know everyone is not posting on this but we have been down this road before and most of us are on the same side for a reason.

Isn't THIS little speech a mess!  I guess Obama is telling us, in his mind, if you own a gun, are against immigration, and/or love God then you are bitter?  What kind of sick, twisted logic is this (rhetorical question...)?  Wow.

Little Johnny

A teacher in Lafayette, Tennessee asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.

Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."

The teacher asked, "Why aren't you an Obama fan?"

Johnny said, "Because I'm a Republican."

The teacher asked him why he's a Republican.

Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican."

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked,

"If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied,

*"That would make me an Obama fan."*
