I received these photos and story that I wanted to share with everyone. I can not verify the story, but regardless of a new world record, this is a big pig!
New World Record (Weiser Weight & Tusk) Free Range Boar: 885 Points, 630 lbs
Here is the story:
Justin was called by a friend about a hog that was in a pasture. He estimated that it was 300lbs. Justin gathered his dogs and drove out alone. After setting out the first two dogs, Lady and Winter, it wasn't long until they were on the trail. Justin heard Lady trying to catch and set Sally (catch dog) loose. Justin wasn't prepared for what he was about to encounter. As he came around the corner, Sally was being thrown through a fence, and Lady was tossed up 4 foot in the air. Then he went from trying to catch the hog to trying to save his dogs. After several stitches and 15 staples to Lady, Justin went to work and gathered more guys and dogs. (And something more than a pair of hobbles)
Later that night after much planning, they set out on the hunt of a lifetime. Justin Bullock, Robert Horton, Trent Guill, Kelly Luse, and Kyle Berry worked the dogs around the same area until Thelma barked. Trent and Justin went in with the catch dogs. Trent was the first to see the hog and when he stepped back and said Oh My God they knew it was the right hog. They then sent the catch dogs loose. Right away they realized they were not at the top of the food chain. Sally and Primer caught the hog, and held on for dear life. The hog again was about to kill the dogs. They knew there was no way that they would be able to tie the hog and let him live. That is when Justin told Robert to "shoot this thing before it kills our dogs." Robert shot him numerous times with a sidearm in the head. And that is how they caught the World Record hog. Thanks to Larry Paris and his lifesaving catch vests and cut collars, no dogs were killed.
Caught with Justin and John's dogs: Sally (catch) Lady (bay) Winter (bay) Sissy (strike) Thelma (bay) Primer (catch)

As we all know the experts are wrong most of the time, Have you seen Myth Busters
And my favorite saying is anyone can write a book,
I've seen several hogs that look like this one in the swamps, most have more Russian or Eurasian look to them, But I have seen Yerkshire walking through the swamp, It's a big white pig, all free range, most of our pigs here in sc look like Arapawa Island swine. so there is no way of telling if the Hog was wild, Someone will say check stomach content, most people bait hogs with corn, when we were getting ready to take hogs to auction we feed them corn, I bait hogs here in Sc with a mix of corn and 14% protein hog pellets (just because the hogs come to my feeders first instead of the other guys)
