There is a ranch in Blanco county that has 3 Trophy Whitetail openings for the fall. Ranch pricing for whitetails is $3000 and $100 an inch over 135 up to 160. It is $200 per inch over 160. The hunts are guided one on one and we provide lodging and meals at the ranch as well as cleaning and skinning. We also have a walk in cooler onsite at the ranch. The ranch is 425 acres high fenced. They also have a large Elk for sale. sales@goldmedalwildlife.com,254-722-3140

Let me do the math, hmmmmm.... suppose he is 175", three thousand plus 25 hundred at one hundred dollars per inch, ... that's five thousand five hundred plus another 15 inches at 2 hundred per inch, ......dang that's eight thousand five hundred dollars for a deer. On 425 acres why do you need a one on one guide? Oh, to do the math before you shoot? Maybe they should have a bar code on the deer?

My favorite part is where he says they have a large elk for sale. Does this mean I can carry him home alive and keep him as a pet?

Im glad you guys have something positive to say. It costs alot of money to feed these deer and if you don't like it then go hunt on your cousin's place or public land.

Regardless of how much it took to raise that deer, you are still way high. Your ad is a joke. I'll go hunt my cousins place.

Don't be rude. I do have to say though, if I was to pay that much for a deer, I'd want him alive and I'd want him to learn to mow the yard and weedeat.

I wasn't trying to be rude, but a one on one guide to hunt on 425 acres? The day I can't go out alone on a small parcel like that, I will quit hunting.

You know, the guy wasn't here for a debate. He was just trying to sell some hunts. If you don't like the price or the place, just don't respond. I'm not defending his price or his place...I don't know the details, but you guys ARE all being rude. He wasn't looking for a fight. He wasn't asking if 400+ acres under high fence met your approval. No matter what your stance and opinions, this wasn't the post for it. Start a new one to address the issues. Let the guy do his thing.

Joe Wolda & Hardy, First, I was not trying to be rude. So don't go pointing fingers. I did not like his choice of words. He is trying to get business and I can appreciate that. I have nothing wrong with that. But here is my issue. I am not going to start another forum post to bash his forum. I would rather address it in that forum and peacefully. I understand the aspects of deer management and I know how much it costs to feed the deer. I could care less if he is on a high fence, low fence or no fence. I could care less if charges a million dollars a deer. That is not my point at all. He said "they have a large elk for sale." My take on that sentence is that it is guaranteed that I kill this elk or it is going to be tied up for me to take home. Instead he could have said, we have an elk hunt available with the possibility of killing a world class elk. Sounds much better and doesn't get a negative reaction to the wording. Does it... So please don't hate on me for pointing out his wording was bad. And finally, "It costs alot of money to feed these deer and if you don't like it then go hunt on your cousin's place or public land." I know. I feed protein and corn year round. But don't tell me to go hunt my cousin's place or public land. I have my own place to hunt and if you ask me and anyone else that has viewed this forum, that right there was the rudest thing said. Why you going to bring family into a discussion forum. The original posting belongs in the classified forums along with the free "Find a guide" service provided by the wonderful folks of TexasHuntFish.com.

This is a FORUM. This is where people express their thoughts on a particular subject. That was my thought about that post. No apologies here.

400 acres high fenced, what a joke that should be illegal. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO ADVERTISE HUNTS. Go to deer texas if you want to do that, I could care less about shooting your pet elk.

Easy John...I didn't point fingers...I included everybody...and I meant him too. I just don't think he was looking for a fight or being a smart-a**, and I think many others on here were. As I read your post, it seems that you're "piggy-backing" on the previous ones. No "hating" here. For the record, I don't like the wording either, but it isn't my ad and I don't want to buy an elk hunt, so I'm not worried about it. If the posting was located improperly, someone just could of told him. And I'm pretty sure I've seen many other solicitations on this part of the forum.

Man, there is some serious penis envy going on here. The guy posts something about having some big deer to hunt, and we have guys saying his place is too small, his price is too much, he should not call it hunting....etc. I got a question for all you wanna be's. How big is YOUR ranch? How many deer scoring over 160 have YOU killed? The ones giving him so much crap probably hunt in the back of their 5 acre place adjoining a big neighbor (not really hunting, more like stealing), and the best deer they have ever killed is a 6 point. If you don't like what he is selling, then move on.

Everybody just needs to chill out. The guys throwing insults at the original poster shouldn't have done it. Also if you fight needless insults with more needless insults than you are no better than they are. These are supposed to be a discussion forum not a battlefield. If you have a point to make make it in a clear and concise manner with something to back it up. Not just slinging mud around hoping it hits someone.
Guns don't kill people....Its those pesky little bullets making lots of holes that all the blood leaks out of.

Hardy, I can see where you thought I was piggybacking on the previous two posts bashing the hunter... Maybe I should have just sent him an email and he could have made the appropriate changes to make it look better. I apologize to Joe and to you. Good luck this weekend... John

All right guys. Here's my take on the situation. Hunting is an activity/sport/past-time/tradition/passion that is seeing unprecedented increases in popularity, like it or not, that's a fact. I believe that with this increase, our (hunters') responsibility to respectfully promote and honor hunting exponentially increases. The non-commercial hunters (myself included) have to accept that commercial operations exist to make money (more power to them - there are good ones and bad ones). This is capitalism, a concept that has helped our nation emerge as a global leader, at its purest. However, as they rake in the dough, some more than others, they are at the forefront and in the spotlight of promoting hunting. Therefore, they bear the greatest burden of honor to convey respect towards our quarry. Remeber also that they are likely providing hunting to people that do not have hallowed hunting grounds to go to. I'm getting long winded; all I am trying to say is that we as hunters need to unite and promote hunting in a manner that is respectful to the game we pursue. So if you see something/someone going at it in a way you feel doesnt convey the deserved reverence, help them out. But more improtantly if you see something you like, give them encouragement. In closing, take a kid hunting and pass it on in the way you know you should. Good luck to the Texas bowhunters and anyone else hunting in the morning.
