I know we've heard from a couple people but how's the birds where everyone is? Opening morning I hunted up north of Cisco and we shot 3-6 birds a piece where everyone usually limits in 30-45 minutes. Two days ago I hunted out by Spricewood. We had about 40 birds that REALLY wanted in the field we sat in around 5pm, but after shooting a few of them that was it all the way until dark. Anyone having some good luck?

Just drove through San Angelo this afternoon...birds everywhere. Back home in Starr County it's gotten very, very quiet. Most white-wings that were there seem to have moved on.

Went out to Live Oak Outfitters in Sheffield opening weekend and did okay but some did limit out, some almost limited out and others did not do well at all. So it was hit and miss out there in Southwest Texas, but a lot of fun.

Pic from this weekend. Great group of guys, plenty of dove, billiards and poker. Mix in a little fishing and college football...doesn't get much better.

Did not hunt this weekend. Last weekend went out to Bellville and limited in a couple hours. The fog was a problem. Mixed bag of white-wings and mourning.

Im a newbe so Im sorry if it seems like Im butting in. I hunt in the border line of Coleman and Runnels County. I guess I should say, I hunted. I screwed myself this year. I own 70 acres there and figured I could make money by leasing it out then leasing out a place myself plus change it up a little. I waited too long to get serious and look around and now i have no where to hunt. We taken some really nice deer, turkey and beleive it or not even hogs there so I'll miss it. If anyone knows of a place let me know. I live in Fort Worth but dont mind driving. I must say, this is a pretty cool forum, very informative. Keep up the good work. Hope to make some freinds. royd2500

The dove are now HERE. Eased out this morning and had the limit within about 15 minutes. Picked through the mass of mourning doves and got 10 whitewings, 2 mournings and 4 "free ones" (collared).

Hardy great picture. I have pulled about 50 to 60 dove this year in about 5 or 6 hunts been very productive in Killeen. Housing developments can be very productive if you have permission from developer and know the local laws. I have been told and have tested the state law and continue to hunt a future subdivision because it is over 10 arces and stayed 150 feet from any property line.

Went to two water holes less than a mile apart yesterday. First one was extremely slow. Left after about an hour and went back to one closer to the house, bumped up a ton of birds and limited out with no problem. Can't tell you why one was better than the other.
