Hey guy`s i found a good way to hunt hogs over your corn feeders at night ! go down to the home depot or your local hardware store and get you some of these solar lights that you put along your sidewalks or driveways and hang them on or around your feeder then sit back in the blind and wait for the little piggy`s

They work great ! just like the one you buy for your feeder for $250.00 and there only $40-$50 .Them being solar there like dusk to dawn so while your at work the hogs are getting use to and as long as there something to eat the hogs will be there

Shane,

Could you look on Home Depot's website and post a link to the ones you use.  Some of our pigs went nocturnal and I am very interested in this!

Im sorry but i am new to the TGM and don1t know how to do a link But i can tell you that you can get these solar yard lights at almost any hardware store with spring on its way you may find a sale on them ! Just a little story; Me and my son,brother-in-law Hunt hogs north of Hondo At first we could take hogs in the evening but they soon got smart. (No traps we like to shoot them out of deer blinds.) so we started hunting them at night ... Hit the lights killed some hogs! Then later you hit the lights they new whats Up! so we check out these night lights for the feeder I could almost buy a new feeder for what they want for the light! So it was my brother-in-law idea to try the yard lights so he pulled up the ones he had in is front yard ! BOY THE OLD LADY WAS MAD! HA HA HA . First he put them on the ground around the feeder, hogs came in .. shot one in the head found the lights half a mile away ! not a good idea but it worked ! So then he mounted the lights above on the feeder I thought the man had had way to many beers by now! This thing look like a christmas tree hehehe Now we have them on three feeders and the hogs go from feeder to feeder and we lay them out. I have heard about a man in McCoy that has a 1000 ac and he has green light over the feeders and the feeders go off every two hours and the hogs are so hungry they keep coming back and you just lay them out all night long and load them up in the morning. I wish i had a pic of the christmas tree feeders u would laugh your ace off! Just check with your local hardware store home depot, lows ect. and see what will work for u . Shane

any color would work but we use the white they are low light. All you need is that little bit of light for your scope to pick up and you got your self a piggy ! Shane There more then one way to skin a hog !

The Solar floodlight kit with three solar floods is easy to install. It is great for backlighting, uplighting, or spotlighting. • Super bright 3 LEDs • Single Solar panel • Each flood has 20 Ft. lead so you can place the solar panel in the sun and fixtures under trees and bushes • Solar Powered Internet/Catalog #100098863 Store In-Stock SKU # 129731 On sale right now for $30

Thanks Josh, even better. I like the fact you can point theses in what ever direction you want. When bow hunting at night I like to be as close as I can be without any light shining on me.

Just to let you know I bought the ones I posted about....they were a huge waste of money. Not bright at ALL. Maybe a single light unit would have produced enough light, but these definately didnt. I think I'll either buy a unit that uses a deer feeder sized battery or marine battery or just make one.

I did that years ago, but the lights don't handle abuse. Next, they almost got me killed! I was sitting on the ground, looking for a chocolate Fallow, and I saw something pass by the solar garden light. Thought it was the fallow, but instead, a very PO'ed boar hog that charged me. I was in the nearest tree for 3 or 4 hours before my hunting partner came looking for me. I had forgot my pistol! So, the moral to My version of this story is- If your gonna shoot hogs after dark, on a regular basis, it's worth the investment of the hoglights with solar panels set up for this stuff, otherwise, you'll be replacing those garden style lights on a regular basis, which turns out to be costly and a pain when you expect to hunt and can't because they crapped out. A good shortcut when hunting a place only for one or two times, is carry a small battery flashlight and hang it with a small bunjie cord from the center of the feeder. Since the batteries don't last long, it means you need to sneak in and turn it on at pig thirty and take a chance of running something closeby off. Works good other wise, and cheap!

A Family that Hunts together, stays together. (unless they leave me home!)

Greetings,

I am a hog hunter who has tried many things.  I wasted a lot of money to get the solar light right.  I tried the ones you talk about and after a cloudy day , forget it. I got the expensive one on e-bay for $65.00 and it still works.  The only problem is that the area of light is so small you have to be pretty close to get your scope centered on a hog.  I finally decided to dish out the money for a light on texasboars.com and got a 15 watt solar panel at the store.  I hooked it up with a deep cycle marine battery and mounted it 25 yards from my feeder.  This unit is sels sufficiant for years and works great even after a week or two of constant rain.  I bagged a 200 lb. boar with this last week.  I am now a believer if your going to do something, do it right!

I don't have any hogs at my place, but I had thought of this once before to kill the racoons that have been terrorizing my feeder at night but never did try it.  May just have to try it now.

Guns don't kill people....Its those pesky little bullets making lots of holes that all the blood leaks out of.
