Congratulations to your son for taking such a nice buck.  Your a good man for taking him and you have a handsome young hunting  partner.  The photo is very good one that y'all will be proud of for years to come.

This is what hunting is all about.  My fondest memories are at the lease hunting and fishing with my father.  You have built memories that he will keep with him for the rest of his life.  I can't wait till my son is old enough to go with me to go hunting.  Keep up the good work.

He always field dresses and skins his own kills. He did a nice job of caping that one out.

Your document that summarizes the deer that are on the DO NOT SHOOT list, with photo and description, is excellent. Thank you for sharing.

Assuming you have enough land to actually prevent those deer being shot by someone else, it is a pleasure to read such a document. You are doing a wonderful job teaching discipline, accountability, respect and land stewardship, from what I have read in this thread.

As with any plot of free range land (we have a little over 4000 acres), you are always going to have deer that wander on and off the reservation. We can only be accountable for what we do, and if your goal is to grow bigger, better deer, you have to let the young ones walk.

We also put our a list of cull and management bucks in the same format.

Here is a buck I took off the same piece of property, although a different part. A nice mature buck, but not quite as impressive as juniors. The story behind the buck is listed on my journal. It was one hell of a hunt.

Bob, glad you got the opportunity to share that hunt with your son....it's a super deer.  The one you took is no slouch, by his neck, take it he was rutting, he's a very respectable buck.

The bucks were still running doe when I shot that buck, but I believe it was at the tail end. This buck was pretty worn from fighting, he had gouges on his back, and had broken off the G4.

You guys are doing it right.  They look like good mature deer.  I have worked hard to get or lease to this point, and I think everyone is getting tired of passing on deer.
