Overview:

         The Wishbone Game ranch is located in the scenic Hill Country on the Mason county, McCulloch county line just off of hi way 87 between Brady and Mason, Texas. Founded in the 1870s by William Surree Kidd, the ranch has passed through five generations of the family to his great-great grandson, Dan Hall.

         A wise man once said "You never really own the land.... you are blessed to be called by God as it's steward while you live on this earth." With this in mind we acquired Scientific Breeder License # 2250 from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/) in January of 2005. We then began to talk to other whitetail deer breeders about building pens. After much research we settled on a design and put in 5 one acre pens with an alley connecting them to move the deer from pen to pen. Our pen design incorporates a future facility for using artificial insemination to bring in other genetics. We purchased bred does from several of the top breeders representing bloodlines such as Rudolf (Diamond K Ranch), Double Trouble (Double Drop Ranch), and Big Tex( Snuff City Ranch). Our first fawn crop hit the ground in the summer of 2005.

         Currently, the ranch is in the process of being high-fenced. The breeding operation makes use of some of the finest breeder bucks in Texas, Hunting operations are scheduled to start in the 2007 hunting season, and guided hunts will be available. Hunting these genetically superior bucks will be the main focus of ranch operations in the future.
