DID U GET ANY MEAT OFF THEM THERE PRETY SMALL ?
May not be a whole lot there but that is TASTY size!!!!
Surprizingly there is a fair amount of meet on these little piggies and a little bit of fat also. I gave this one to a friend of mine and they roasted it in the oven. It was good but it would have been better over and open fire or in a pit. I am hoping to get one about 80/100 lbs. and try my hand at wrapping and cooking in a pit.
Those are the best ones.
thats wrong...
I was wondering when I might get some flack for shooting one of these little ones. The problem is if your trying to thin down the numbers of hogs on your place you can't be choozy and these little ones, if left alone, have a long life ahead of them if they make it through the winter. I would guess the mortality rate from predation and the weather would not be as humane as a quick dispatch with an arrow or a rifle. It is all a matter of perspective, I guess, and being able to see the pig I mean Big picture. I got caught about half way up on my tripod stand one morning by a really large group of pigs that had two really big boars in the group. My bow was on the lift line and couldn't get a shot so I had to just let them drift off. I am not a discriminating hunter and I will shoot the largest as well as one of the little ones to get rid of them. Problem is I don't think the really large ones will eat very good and they won't live as long as the younger one will anyway.
I think your reasoning is quite sound glpoe1. The little ones do grow up and instead of just shooting one and leaving it lay you are actually going to eat it. I don't see anything wrong with this thought process.
