Hill Country Whitetail Buck in Velvet
Category: Native Animal

This photo was taken last night in Southwest Travis County. My kids and I have watched him for the last three years. My daughter is excited to maybe have a chance at harvesting him with a crossbow this season. I think he is a very healthy five year old with some great scars and scabs. I am going to try to zoom in and show you the texture of his antlers in velvet.

Nice hill country deer, with a few 'war wounds'.  How old is he - 4.5-5.5 YO?

I agree, I was dreaming that he might sprout into a 10point this year since he has had access to free choice protein for the last 36 months, but that didn't happen. Maybe his off-spring? I could be wrong, but I think from watching him that he is 5 this year.
