Hello from a Texan in Germany. The catfish is called a Wels. They inhabit the waters of central, southern, and eastern Europe, and near the Baltic and Caspian Seas. Had a buddy catch one, 30-40 lbs, in the Rhein river. He caught it on a Rapala Husky Jerk with 8 lb test. Google Wels catfish for some cool pictures. Later

Thanks Kerry for the info - had never heard of a wels catfish before.
2.46m is slightly over 8' long. Do they get that big that often over there?
I would assume that they eat them. There is a whole lot of catfish there. Wonder what it weighs?????
Nice Catfish!
