Search Results:public turkey and quailSummary:
Howdy! Quail is kind of thin in many areas. Eastern Turkey hunting beginning April 1st is in a number of East Texas counties. That being said, call the wildlife biologist assigned to the public land you intend to hunt. There are lots of public land places that say they have quail or a turkey season, but you would never find either one on many of the WMAs. Your best bet is to search the Annual Public Hunt booklets, then make some phone calls. Good luck! Always, Gene
Find Affordable Public Hunting LandSummary:
What an awesome story and tremendous program for Texas. Me and my dad have been utilizing TPWD public lands for dove hunting for over ten years. Now I got my brother in law, son, and father in law going out and utilizing public lands. We have accessed incredible dove leases all over South Texas into the Rio Grande Valley. If only TPWD could access and increase their budget to expand on the public hunting opportunities. One thing that can be done is pump more money into the program to improve wildlife habitat and lease better quality hutning lands. This will only positively impact our hurting economy. More hunters equals more more spent on shells, clothing, food, which results in a more healthier economy!!! Using flour to attract hogsSummary:
It was the same bad luck at all our hunting locations this year, La Mota ranch in Benavides, the De La Garza ranch south of Benavides and Rancho Sueno Mio in Mathis TX, just no bucks moving around, plenty of does and spikes, but what really shocks me is that we saw only two yearlings and no fawns!!! Not Good, but plenty of hogs moving around and lots of Dove!!! We are going to step up our wildlife management and plant some food plots, dig a nice pond, and just do a better job of attracting wildlife for next year!!! Hog Hunting (LBJ National Grasslands)Summary:
Howdy! I don't know much about LBJ National Grasslands; however, I suggest that you give the wildlife biologist there a call about what is available for hunting and the season. Also, there are some Corps of Engineers places around the state that offer hunting. And look on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website for WMAs to hunt hogs, etc. Good Luck! Always, Gene
212 B/C Buck
Summary: Masterson Ranch owned by the Bill Masterson family and managed by Robert Masterson. I would be very surprised if any protein is fed out on this ranch. Having some land in this area I have seen some pretty impressive bucks taken off other ranches in the area such as the Pitchfork,Tongue River and 6666. There are no high fences up in this neck of the country.........just good wildlife management without all the modern tools....I think the protein is in the red soil...I was raised in Munday and Knox county is also providing some really good hunting oportunities . The one buck tag helps a lot and we are finally getting to take out a few does and spikes during the off season. All looks good if the rains keep up.
LOOKING - ALWAYS LOOKINGSummary:
try the Texas Parks and Wildlife site. Thats where I found the lease we are on and its not much more than 2 grand a gun but its in prime country. If you are looking for a spot in the hill country somewhere...it should not be that hard to find. Also try all the county chamber of commerce sites and give them a call...they will point you in the right direction. 2 grand a gun is still out there and will become even more available as the economy continues to stink. Unfortunately the 1 grand a gun days are over. Where's the bacon???Summary:
You would think the rain would help stimulate the wildlife activity, but clearly there has been a downfall on production at least at our locations. I absolutely prefer pork over Venison, I guess all these years it had been so easy to harvest enough vension to last all year, and now that the porkers began showing up at the feeders, it looked like that would have been the preferred game animal, but now there is nothing, no piggies or deer, just coons!!! Well, there is always next year and hopefully during the off season if we keep feeding corn the pigs will come back!!! 1502 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
