Well we are half way through the “Spring Fling” and we sure hope you are enjoying it.  We have some very exciting hunts coming your way for the second half as well.  We end the first half with my wife as she makes her first ever bow kill!  Things were perfect.  It was Mother’s Day and the daughter, wife, and I set out to fill her tag.  After shooting her bird it ran off and we reviewed the footage.  Then we came across some fawns and the camera man taped over all the after excitement, etc.  As a camera man, I am just as excited as the hunter and I too make mistakes.  At least we still got the shot on film…

Tip of the Month April

Here is a tip on how to dress up your turkey decoy to bring out striking realism to you spread.  I have been doing this to decoys for awhile now with amazing results!  Last year a good buddy of mine took my idea to the next level.  So this year I used his idea and took it even further.  The decoy came out great and I can not wait to get this set up for my wife on the 18^th of April!

This is already the best hunting season so far and I haven't even taken a deer.  We make our annual family hunting trip every year after Christmas through New Years.  This year I played guide to my wife taking her first deer ever and to my oldest daughter 15 years old taking her second Old Mexico Whitetail.  They made we work hard between them not wanting to get up early and being lazy otherwise we could have gotten this done quicker than we did.  We were able to close the deal on the last day with my wife in the morning taking a 142 9 Point, and my daughter taking a 135 ten point 15 minutes in to the afternoon hunt.  It turned out to be a family affair with my wife and the two youngest sitting in the truck watching while we tried one last time to get this deer she had been chasing all week.  The disappointment was rising the closer we got to the end of the hunt, only to lead to more excitement as we took it down to the wire.  Due to school and sports she wouldn't have the opportunity to get back down and hunt before the season's end.  What a way to start off the new year!  I couldn't be happier.

This is my for years anti-hunting wife that somewhere out of the blue decided she wanted to take a deer!  At that point I decided that if she was willing to step that far out of the box and her comfort zone then she could take whatever deer she wanted.  After all it's her money too that I spend so much of year in and year out.  I was far more nervous guiding her on her first ever whitetail then being the shooter myself.  It was like taking my first deer all over again!  Very exciting and I couldn't be happier!!!

Husband and wife hunting team.  Wife blows the head off of this hen.  Not sure where this was "shot" but the husband is pretty darn exciteable.

My wife has never really enjoyed fishing with me and the kids at our place in East Texas. I don't know it if standing on the bank of a pond, the murky water, occassional cotton mouth snake, constant mosquitoes and fireants, or general heat and humidity? But in the Florida Keys she was as excited as the kids to fish.

Some opening day dove hunting.  Not is this guy hunting dove on opening day apparently his wife is hunting with him and she's about 2 days away from having a baby.  Talk about dedication!

I need this for my wife on the ranch. Do without the butler. There is everything for hunting now.
