WildRose Guided Hunt Service
Summary:
Specializing in Fully Guided Hunts For Quail, Duck, Dove, Wild Boar, Deer, and Turkey hunting and More NOTE!!! Unlike many Outfitters we understand that many of our clients have dogs of their own and love to work behind them, so you are encouraged to bring your own dogs to hunt along with ours. Our Water fowling primarily consists of "jump shooting" over small ponds, or "tanks" as they are called in Texas usually under one acre in size. We also hunt them from blinds camouflaged in grain fields or on these same small tanks. Each method provides excellent shooting opportunities for over 25 different species of Duck. The operation is centered in the Baylor and Throckmorton counties in West Texas, a comfortable two and a half to three hour drive from DFW International Airport, and we have facilities for private aircraft capable of even accommodating the small corporate jets, with runways of four thousand plus feet locally as well. We have access to ranches in seven different counties, covering an area from Abilene, to Childress, to Jacksboro, to Wichita Falls giving us flexibility and near endless opportunity in spite of the unpredictability's of weather, or game movements and population shifts. This area of West Texas has for years and continues to be the heart of Bobwhite Quail country in the state, and over the last ten years while Bobwhite Quail populations have indeed seen broad swings we have managed well and even on our worst years have averaged over ten Coveys of Bobwhite Quail per hunt day. Along with Bobwhite Quail hunting we offer hunts for Mourning Dove, Duck (seeing as many as 17 different species over the course of a day) including; Mallard, Pintail, Canvasback, Gadwall, Ring neck, Blue Bill, Golden Eye, Bufflehead, Teal (all three species), Red head, Widgeon, Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, Spoonbills, et. al... even the odd Wood duck. For an idea of what to expect from a typical mixed bag hunt we begin the day with a hearty breakfast, we then begin with blind hunting for ducks at dawn, then hunting quail from around eight thirty until noon. After breaking for lunch, and often a bit of a nap to be followed by jump shooting for ducks until around two to three pm. Our hunting day concludes with a full slate of quail hunting until sundown. Trans-Pecos Hunting ClubSummary:
First and foremost: We are a Hunt Club. We are not a guide service, and we share costs such as lease, protein feed, camp improvements, deer blinds, brush trimming etc. We love the land the Lord created "West of the Pecos River." We love to hunt trophy mule deer, white tail, turkey, javelina, and bobcats. We also practice management for future generations. Each year, rifle season lasts for approximately two months. With this in mind, we suggest that you plan and book all hunting trips in advance. When hunting, each hunter receives about 1,000 acres (per hunter/leasee) for a full-range of exciting activities. During hunting, spouses and dependents (e.g. children) are allowed to be at the hunter's side, although rules and regulations must be followed. Hunting activities are also available for either individuals or groups, based on hunting needs.
Mule Deer- 16 Day Season (approx November 25- Mid December). Circle Ranch
Summary:
Starting in 2005 we offered a limited and very successful trophy pronghorn antelope hunt. Our 100% hunter success resulted in an average score that exceeded 80 B&C inches with one exceptional buck making "book" at 84 2/8 inches! Our exclusive hunts are conducted on over 32,000 acres of prime antelope habitat with opportunities for very mature bucks. The 2 1/2 day hunts are 1X2 with meals and lodging furnished at the ranch. Airport pick up and return is available from El Paso International Airport. Long regarded as the premier game animal in the Southwest, the desert bighorn sheep is now well established in the remote mountains of the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. Permits are awarded by the State each year to individual landowners based on annual census data and habitat evaluation. The Circle ranch generally receives a sheep permit each year. Our habitat enhancement and water accessibility in remote areas has benefited the sheep population that utilizes our “high country”. Our exclusive sheep hunt offers a guaranteed opportunity at a quality ram in some of the most spectacular country in West Texas. Exceptional lodging, experienced wait staff and guides, and accessibility to sheep country via Polaris Ranger or horseback, guarantees an exceptional and successful hunting opportunity for this majestic animal. Please contact us to place your name on our bidding list for the permit.
Frio County - 10,800 acresSummary:
The ranch is 10,800 low fenced acres located west of Pearsall in Frio County. The surrounding neighbors consist of 60,000 low fenced acres of extended family ranches and all are managing and has light hunting pressure. This property is Level 3 MLDP, has a lodge that sleeps 14, has fish-stocked ponds, this is a year around lease, game cooler, has lots of turkey, quail and deer (very big deer), blinds/protein and corn feeders provided (leasee supplies feed, ranch fills feeders), on-site ranch foreman, this property has been a trophy commercial hunting operation for years and featured on Bill Jordan's Realtree Outdoors television shows multiple times along with many hunting magazine stories. This is the real deal. I will establish harvest recommendations each year. Contact me directly if seriously interested. Crockett County Lease - 8200 AcresSummary:
Crockett County - 8,200 acres Acorn Outfitters, LLC
Summary:
Acorn Outfitters, LLC hunts on one of the largest cattle ranches in Val Verde and Kinney Counties, which is a 4th generation, family owned and operated ranch. Hunting is done on approximately 25,000 acres. These prime hunting ranches are located between Brackettville and Del Rio which is approximately 150 miles west of San Antonio, Texas in the northern perimeters of the legendary South Texas Brush Country. The terrain includes dense mesquite thickets, black brush, oak motts, rolling hills, South Texas vegetation and 3 major creeks run though the ranches (Pinto, Mud and Sycamore). Also included are several large water tanks. Our habitat is in excellent shape after the recent rains and the nutrition necessary to produce good racks. The ranch strives to maintain a healthy animal environment and managed to produce the best whitetail deer, turkey, and exotics. Texas Blue Quail Hunting
Summary:
Texas Blue Quail Hunting offers wild Blue Quail Hunting in West Texas. Hunts are conducted by ATV's Kawasaki Mules or Polaris Rangers on only wild birds we drive the roads and spot covies feeding then exit the hunting vehicle and either turn out a couple of English Pointers or just hunt them by sight. Then we put down a retriever and gather up the blue quail after the covey rise. The Blue Quail are numerous in West Texas an average day will be 25 - 35 covies and the covies are big with 20-30 birds per covey. We usually hunt three to four hours in the morning and three to four hours in the evening. The landscape is typical West Texas Desert country with lots of thorns and brush but with a good mix of hills and draws. The ranch we are hunting is very large 120,000 acres, 180 sections or 180 square miles. With that in mind there is no way to over hunt the ranch it is simply too large to cover in one season. We are seeing great numbers of birds right now they are all pared up and breeding. The rains have come and all the tanks and pods are full this is the best spring we have had in fifteen years so the Blue Quail crop should be very good in 2007-2008. You will see lots of game Javelina, Desert Mule Deer, Coyotes and Wild Boar on your hunt. Hunt Location: The ranch is located 5 miles west of Balmorea, Texas. You will fly into Midland International Airport (code MAF). We will pick you up then drive the short 1.5 hours to the ranch and begin your hunt. Please refer to our booking information page for any additional information on this hunt. About The Dogs: The dogs are all owned and trained by me. I have been breeding and training English Pointers for about seven years. The breeding has lead to five major field trial championships also in 2007 placing 2nd in the Midwestern State Quail Futurity with a nice young dog. We do use these dogs in our Blue Quail Hunting. We try to use dogs as often as possible to hunt Blue Quail depending where we are on the ranch, not all habitat lets us use the dogs. We need to be in areas that are condusive for dog running. The breeding is strong Rock Acre Breeding with CH. Black Rain, Nat. CH.Texas Trailrider, and Nat. CH Millers White Powder mixed in for variation. We are very proud of our dogs and what we have accomplished. For more information about the dogs visit www.mistkennels.com.
