Speckled Trout & Redfish Guide Rockport Texas

  •  Wade & Drift Fishing Rockport & Matagorda
  •  Stalking Redfish in the back flats and lakes
  •  Topwater and Plastics for Speckled Trout
  •  Smooth, Dry, Shallow Haynie Boat with Mercury
  •  Always having fun

Captain Coufal began his fishing career fishing East and West bays in Matagorda Texas. This is where he had the opportunity to study fishing patterns throughout the years and hone his skills. He then had the opportunity to fish Rockport Texas and was instantly attracted to the vast bay systems that the area had to offer. The unique variety ranging from the deep shell reefs of San Antonio bay, the abundance of back lakes, to the always fish-able grass bottom of Estes flats, made for an easy decision to make Rockport his home. Rockport definitely provides the best opportunity for consistent fishing year-round than anywhere else on the Texas coast.

Fishing styles

Captain Coufal will always work hard to ensure that your outing will be a memorable one. He can accommodate all styles of fishing ranging from: wading with artificial lures, drifting with live bait, or anchoring up to ambush schooling redfish.

Over 40 years fishing experience

Ozzie has lived in Bay City all his life, and he started fishing when he was 7. At that time, you admired a man that had a boat with a 70 horsepower motor. He shrimped commercially in the late 70's  and early 80's, and has oystered East and West Matagorda Bay for 30 years.

"The Pelican"
Ozzie's friends gave him the nickname "Pelican" because he always catches fish when no one else can. Ozzie knows where the fish will be feeding, what bait works best, and when the fish will be biting.  Ozzie has lived up to the name Pelican.

Ozzie enjoys teaching anyone who wants to learn how to fish. He has extensive knowledge of the bay system and 44 years of fishing experience.  Articles about Ozzie have been published in Texas Parks and Wildlife and Heartland Magazine.  Ozzie has shared his fishing experience with people from all over the United States, and looks forward fishing with you.
