WildRose Guided Hunt Service

WildRose Guided Hunt Service
Summary:

Specializing in Fully Guided Hunts For

Quail, Duck, Dove, Wild Boar, Deer, and Turkey hunting and More
We are not the typical type of hunting outfit you will find in South Texas.  No banging all over pastures chasing runaway dogs from jeeps and trucks.  For our upland (quail hunts) hunts we provide comfortable  four door, four wheel drive one ton trucks to get us from place to place and hunt exclusively behind our World Class German Shorthaired Pointing dogs.

NOTE!!!  Unlike many Outfitters we understand that many of our clients have dogs of their own and love to work behind them, so you are encouraged to bring your own dogs to hunt along with ours.

Our Water fowling primarily consists of "jump shooting" over small ponds, or "tanks" as they are called in Texas usually under one acre in size.  We also hunt them from blinds camouflaged in grain fields or on these same small tanks.  Each method provides excellent shooting opportunities for over 25 different species of Duck.

The operation is centered in the Baylor and Throckmorton counties in West Texas, a comfortable two and a half to three hour drive from DFW International Airport, and we have facilities for private aircraft capable of even accommodating the small corporate jets, with runways of four thousand plus feet locally as well.

We have access to ranches in seven different counties, covering an area from Abilene, to Childress, to Jacksboro, to Wichita Falls giving us flexibility and near endless opportunity in spite of the unpredictability's of weather, or game movements and population shifts.

This area of West Texas has for years and continues to be the heart of Bobwhite Quail country in the state, and over the last ten years while Bobwhite Quail populations have indeed seen broad swings we have managed well and even on our worst years have averaged over ten Coveys of Bobwhite Quail per hunt day.

Along with Bobwhite Quail hunting we offer hunts for Mourning Dove, Duck (seeing as many as 17 different species over the course of a day) including; Mallard, Pintail, Canvasback, Gadwall, Ring neck, Blue Bill, Golden Eye, Bufflehead, Teal (all three species), Red head, Widgeon, Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, Spoonbills, et. al...  even the odd Wood duck.

For an idea of what to expect from a typical mixed bag hunt we begin the day with a hearty breakfast, we then begin with blind hunting for ducks at dawn, then hunting quail from around eight thirty until noon. After breaking for lunch, and often a bit of a nap to be followed by jump shooting for ducks until around two to three pm.  Our hunting day concludes with a full slate of quail hunting until sundown.

Trans-Pecos Guide Service

Trans-Pecos Guide Service
Summary:

Trans-Pecos Guide Service was established in 1983 to provide exclusive hunting opportunities for desert mule deer, whitetail, and javelina in West Texas. Since our inception our goal was to always provide the finest hunting opportunities to our clients that chose to hunt this unique region of the State. No other ecological region in the state of Texas can compare with the diversity and abundance of free-ranging native game that flourishes in the Trans-Pecos region. In addition to our desert mule deer and whitetail hunts we can now offer limited hunts for desert bighorn sheep, elk, antelope and quail.

Trans-Pecos Wildlife Services evolved from our involvement with the State of Texas in the management of our wildlife resources. We have now streamlined our operation to devote more time toward the management of our wildlife in order to provide not only exceptional hunter success but opportunities for trophy quality that exceed regional benchmarks for trophy excellence! All of our ranches are actively involved with the Sate of Texas in the Managed Lands Deer Permit (MLDP) program. This affords our clients opportunities to hunt recognized ranches that are actively engaged in habitat preservation, enhancement, and stringent wildlife management practices.

Our intensely managed properties have ensured exceptional hunter success for mature desert mule deer, whitetail and antelope. Each year several of our hunters are recognized through the Texas Big Game Awards program, which awards certificates of recognition for harvested deer that exceed the regional benchmark for trophy excellence. All of our ranches are low-fenced and all game is 100% free-ranging on native rangeland.

Acorn Outfitters, LLC

Acorn Outfitters, LLC
Summary:

Acorn Outfitters, LLC hunts on one of the largest cattle ranches in Val Verde and Kinney Counties, which is a 4th generation, family owned and operated ranch. Hunting is done on approximately 25,000 acres. These prime hunting ranches are located between Brackettville and Del Rio which is approximately 150 miles west of San Antonio, Texas in the northern perimeters of the legendary South Texas Brush Country.

The terrain includes dense mesquite thickets, black brush, oak motts, rolling hills, South Texas vegetation and 3 major creeks run though the ranches (Pinto, Mud and Sycamore). Also included are several large water tanks. Our habitat is in excellent shape after the recent rains and the nutrition necessary to produce good racks. The ranch strives to maintain a healthy animal environment and managed to produce the best whitetail deer, turkey, and exotics.

Trophy Ridge Ranch - Trophy Buck Hunt

Trophy Ridge Ranch - Trophy Buck Hunt
Summary:

If you had a less than satisfactory deer season, maybe it's time you tried a hunt at TRR in Montague Co.  1 1/2 hrs north of DFW, the scenery of the Red River Breaks and the mature whitetails guarantee any hunter will have an outstanding experience.  We offer traditional hunting in a fair chase environment whether you choose our high fenced or low fenced parts of the ranch.  Trophy Ridge on the east side and Farmers Creek on the west provide some of the best whitetail habitat in North Texas. The genetic influence of the northern whitetails combined with the native stock has produced some outstanding trophy bucks.

Coleman Ranches

Summary: Exotic hunting on the Caprock region of West Texas with over seventeen different types of game.

Brazos Archery Outfitters

Brazos Archery Outfitters
Summary: This is an ARCHERY ONLY SERVICE! THIS IS NOT A GUN HUNTING RANCH.

Our 5-day hunts and day hunts are offered on the JOHNSON RANCH, a 6300-acre cattle ranch/grain farm in Young county TX, just west of the town of Newcastle. The ranch is bordered on the north by the Brazos River and is primarily mesquite pasture but with many oaks and other hardwoods on the ridges and in the river bottom area and creek drainages. A portion of the ranch is farmed with wheat and other small grains, making an excellent food source for the abundant game. The ranch has many stock ponds and creeks providing ample water for the game. It is crossed with numerous roads and utility rights of way making it very accessible during dry weather conditions. The ranch was never commercially hunted for deer, hogs, or turkey before being leased to us in 2000. Only a modest amount of deer hunting has ever been done on the place by the ranch hands and owners.

B & C Tropohy Whitetail Hunts - Terrell County

Summary: Thanks for your interest in exploring a hunting opportunity with B&C Trophy Hunts. Over the last 30 years, I have hunted quality white-tailed deer, Rio Grande wild turkey, javelina, mule deer, quail, and dove throughout the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. Over the last 10 years, I have been the proprietor of B&C Trophy Hunts and have developed a great hunt package experienced by both Texas hunters and those from other states. Below, you can find more detail on what B&C Trophy Hunts has for you. We cater to both seasoned hunters as well as novices.

The Mitchell Ranch is Terrell County, Texas in the southwestern portion of the state called the Trans-Pecos region. The terrain is rugged canyon country and during deer season, temperature can range from 15 degrees to 85 degrees. The ranch is about 200 miles west of San Antonio, just south of Interstate Hwy. I-10. The property is accessible by highway and all-weather roads.

I have set up guidelines that I incorporate into an overall wildlife management prescription for the ranch. I work with two people in the wildlife profession, Dr. Jim Cathey (a former Texas Parks and Wildlife Biologist and now an Assistant Professor with Texas A&M University) and Dr. Andrew DeWoody (an Assistant Professor of Fisheries and Wildlife Genetics at Purdue University), to help map out appropriate management strategies for the ranch. There is a minimal amount of livestock on the ranch reducing forage competition for wildlife. A strict rotational grazing system is in place to further enhance range conditions. A managed harvest and year around feeding plan has greatly enhanced both the quality and numbers of trophy deer on the ranch.

Our hunts consist of blind hunting near feeder locations, spot and stalk hunts, safari style hunts, and rattling during the rut. The opportunities for taking a trophy whitetail are very good. Our success rate for the past six years has been near 100%. The only hunters that have not taken good bucks are the ones that were holding out for an exceptional trophy, to better their personal best. The success rate on turkeys has been good.

The terrain is very rocky, and there is an abundance of catclaw, prickly pear, yucca, soto, and other desert plants. The steep canyons can often be “rocked”, and deer are often scouted from a vehicle.

Archers are welcome!

The hunting opportunities on the ranch now consist of trophy Whitetail deer, Javelina, and Rio Grande Turkey. Our hunts are 4-day guided hunts with meals, lodging, and transportation on the ranch furnished. Our guides handle the field dressing and basic processing of the game.

We will provide pickup at a regional airport (Midland-Odessa, MAF) and transportation to/from the ranch. Lodging is clean, comfortable, and warm. If needed, air conditioning is available in the bunkhouse. We have an excellent cook, who prepares a variety of meals that our hunters always enjoy.

Camp rules and regulations:

No drunks.

Firearm safety is taken very seriously—no loaded guns in camp.

Over 20,000 acres of wildlife habitat! Hunters routinely have shots at over a dozen different bucks during the course of a 4-day hunt.
