Our Quail are gone!

Summary: I drove over every road on our lease this past weekend and did not see one quail. Last year we could see at lease 4-5 covies. One of our hunters suggested importing pen raised quail and releasing them and not hunting them until  they had time to re-populate the area. Has anyone ever heard of doing ...

mountain lion spotted at lease

Summary: 2 of our hunters were at the lease this past weekend and saw a (small--young) mountain lion. It is about 16-20" tall and about 3-4' in length. I was wondering about how old this cat would be. I probably would not shoot this cat, but my dad has allways wanted one. I would love to see one and get som...

GOOD NEWS---IT RAINED A LOT

Summary: JUST RECIEVED THE GOOD NEWS, IT RAINED FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS, AND AS OF THIS MORNING IT WAS STILL RAINING ON MY LEASE IN WEST TEXAS. THE NEAREST TOWN HAD RECORDED OVER 2" OF BADLY NEEDED RAIN AS OF YESTERDAY. IT MAY BE A LITTLE TO LATE TO HELP WITH ANTLER DEVELOPMENT NOW, BUT ANY RAIN HAS TO BE GOOD....

Summary: I HUNT WEST TEXAS NEAR OZONA, AND WE DO NOT HAVE A HEALTHY QUAIL POPULATION. THIS IS ONLY MY 2ND. YEAR TO HUNT THIS LEASE, AND WE HAVE ALL AGREED TO TAKE VERY FEW QUAIL. LAST YEAR I ONLY SAW MAYBE 4-5 COVIES ALL SEASON, WE HAVE 4200 ACRES. NO ONE THAT I KNOW OF SAW A SINGLE QUAIL AT OUR FEEDERS. TH...

NEED RAIN AT LEASE

Summary: I HUNT IN NORTHERN CROCKETT COUNTY. THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE, ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, THE PLACE WAS A DUST BOWL. I SAW THE WEATHER RADAR THIS MORNING AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A LOT OF RAIN SOUTH OF US (3-6 INCHES OVER NIGHT IN SOME PLACES), BUT WE ARE ON THE OUTER FRINGES OF IT. PLEASE PRAY FOR RAIN...

FUEL AND HUNTING

Summary: ALREADY THE COST OF FUEL HAS HAD A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON MY BUSINESS (CONSTRUCTION). I SAW A NEWS RELEASE YESTERDAY, IT APPEARS THAT MOST ALL ECONOMIC FORCAST ARE CALLING FOR $8.00+ PER GALLON FUEL PRICES BY THE END OF THE YEAR. THIS COST WILL PRETTY MUCH SHUT DOWN THE CONSTRUCTION WORK IN MY AREA. I ...

Young Non Typical? Age?

Young Non Typical? Age?
Summary:

Over the years I have seen a number of deer in West Texas with this kind of mass, not many. However they were most allways on or near property that did not allow hunting. As we often say----------LET THEM GROW!!!!!!!!!
