Season Duck Lease being auctioned at banquet: people steeling hunting stuff!!Summary:
Idiots are just low down and too cheap to go out and buy their own stuff. I have a buddy who scouts the grasslands for us who had a trail cam hidden and chained & locked to a tree near a huge rub line. Had been sending me some great pics of turkey and deer from a few locations he planned on putting some of our guys on. He went back to retrieve the camera to see the big monster that had been tearing up all the trees out there and found that someone had taken the time to go get bolt cutters, cut the chain and take everything. Now I know it's a big risk doing something like that on public land, but still people shouldn't have to sink so low. Makes you want to have a stakeout catch 'em in the act and snipe them right in the left butt cheek...Now if yall hear of someone getting shot in the Arse...I didn't do it...LOL! Sam Houston Nat'l Forest Turkey HuntingSummary:
There are still pockets of birds scattered in certain areas but very few because the forest haven't been kept up until recently. Turkey don't do well in east Tx if the forest are too dense, but there has recently been some burning going on and some tinber thining projest scheduled to improve the habitat. There is also a large restocking effort scheduled within the next couple pf years which will make SHNF a good area to hunt turkey once season reopens a few years after the release. Public land Turkey huntingSummary:
I haven't heard a turkey gobble in SHNF in about 3 or 4 years now. I heard that only one known bird was taken on last spring on the area near Cold Spring. Your best bet is to head to Angelina Ntl forest. I only got to hunt a half a day on yesterday, but we saw at least one turkey while we were there. Also called in a nice gobbler last year while we were out there.... Turkeys in Cass CountySummary:
A buddy of mine has family property that we hunt up in Linden, and an uncle who live on the place who say's he's seen a lot of turkeys up that way. I also talked to a biologist who has seen a larger number of them around Atlanta, Tx. They are in the county, but may you want to do something to attract them to your place like planting food plots...turkey are crazy about chufa and if u plant some that may brig them around. 97 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
