Summary:
I hunted on NOV 2010 with Mike and had a hunt of a lifetime. We hunted for free range aoudad, the terrain is spectacular, lodging, meals and guides top notch. This is a challenging and demanding hunt, no feeders, no blinds, just the real deal glassing and hiking. This is how sheep should be hunted. I'll be back on 2011 and will recommed this hunt to anyone looking for a real sheep hunt without going broke on alaska or canada. License are 48dlls from TPWD over the counter. Example Food Plot Plan
Summary:
I am a firm believer in wildlife management and utilizing science to help improve habitat conditions. At our ranch in Benavides TX we have done a similiar project to enhance the quality of our wildlife habitat. We have taken a property that once was originally thick native brush and cleared some areas to promote native grass to grow and planted some food plots for wildile nutrition. We have also cleared and disked areas near tree line for dove hunting and taken it a step futher by triming mesquite trees to make them more ideal for roosting birds. I have seen some of the land managment that TPWD has done with the Las Palomas units in the RIo Grande Valley and you can tell the hard work has paid off for the dove hunting down there, great job!!! The Deer Genetics Management DebateSummary:
I have also seen a dramatic increase in the quality of bucks on my property in East Texas since TPWD has implemented an antler restriction program. If we can hold off shooting a nice 3.5 year old we will have a better 4.5 year old and if he survives to be 5 WOW! Not to mention the extra years that he is allowed to walk he is continuing to spread his genetic potential. LeaseSummary:
check out leasehunter.com, texasleaseconnection.com, the texas parks and wildlife site under hunt texas online connection. TPWD is free but the others will cost you around 30 bucks.......its worth it if you are serious about finding a place
more lease postings will start showing up over the next month or two.....stay involved...finding a good lease for you and your daughter will be challenging but can be done........also quite a few leases lose people every year and are looking for a gun to replace the lost person.......some of these will be more affordable...but remember most leases will require you to also pay with sweat so don't be affraid to put in your work weekends or you will get dropped before you get to really enjoy a place. Inca/Scaled Doves FYI
Summary:
Inca doves are no different from killdeer and barn swallows, which also get mistakenly shot each year. It is up to the hunter to know what they are shooting at. If a person cannot identify the species, they should not be shooting. The law is simple and clear. Inca doves are not listed as a legal species in the Outdoor Annual published by TPWD, so it is not legal to hunt. Inca doves, as well as the similar ground dove, are not new to Texas - they are commonly seen in towns and barnyards in much of the state. They aren't much bigger than a sparrow, and it should be easy to tell the difference between these and mourning, white-winged, and white-tipped doves which are legal for harvest. I think you have confused information about the Inca and Eurasian collared dove. The collared dove is an exotic species that is spreading throughout the state. It is slightly larger than a white-winged dove, and although mostly found in towns, it may also be seen while hunting. As an exotic species, similar to pigeons, there are no regulations on taking them. Page 66 in the Outdoor Annual states there are no season or bag limits, although it does recommend you leave some plumage so that it can be identified as a collared dove if needed. Effective depredatory feral hog controll.... Do you want it bad enough?
Summary:
I believe TPWD is beginning to address the hog problem and trying to get out to counties where there is a problem and educate land owners about hog control. I would like to see local / state agentcies provide finacial incintive to landowners who want to utilize land management for wildlife and help stimulate the economy through hunting. 3081 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
