At its next meeting on Wednesday, January 25, the Regulations Committee of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will present proposed amendments to the 2012-2013 Statewide Hunting Proclamation. It will seek permission for them to be published in the Texas Register for public comment.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed an important self-defense measure that would enable millions of Right-to-Carry permit holders across the country to carry concealed firearms while traveling outside their home states.

During Senate consideration of the FY 2012 Commerce, Justice and Science appropriations bill, Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) plans to offer an amendment that would prohibit use of funds for a new and unauthorized multiple sales reporting plan proposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Dr. Deer Inc., the industry’s leading voice for modern deer management. ADWA and Dr. James C. Kroll, known nationally as ‘Dr. Deer,’ will work together to promote the deer industry and increase public awareness for issues relating to deer, hunting and wildlife management.

It is critical that sportsmen and sporting dog owners contact their state senators and ask them to vote no on House Bill 1451.

Legislation that would allow searches of homes of the owners of sporting dog breeders without probable cause, or even a search warrant, is one step closer to becoming law.  House Bill 1451, the so-called “puppy mill” bill introduced by Rep. Senfronia Thompson (D- Houston), has been assigned to the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice.  No hearing dates have been set. 

Local, state, and national groups continue to sign on to an effort to defeat a Texas House Bill that could put many sporting dog and hobby breeders out of existence.
