The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC) and Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the country's second largest selling Bourbon brand, have announced a two-year partnership that positions Evan Williams as the official bourbon of the Toyota Texas Bass Classic. As part of this partnership, Evan Williams' branded concessions area will be one of the highlights of the expo area. The TTBC will be held October 16 - 18 at Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas.

Texas Game Wardens today recovered the body of Jarod David Dawkins, 27, who was missing since the boat he was on capsized March 17 near Sparta Valley Park on Belton Lake. Dawkins’ body was recovered at 9:03 a.m. just north of the water treatment plant near Westcliff Park.

As the weekend progressed, the temperatures on Lake Amistad warmed up and so did Jason Williamson. The third-year BASS pro from Aiken, South Carolina, shoved aside consistency and posted a backbreaking total of more than 68 pounds through the final two days, which was enough to advance from 38th position to third heading into Day 3, then secure his first BASS victory and the accompanying $100,000 top prize Sunday at the 2009 Bassmaster Elite Series season opener, the OPTIMA Batteries Battle on the Border.

Johnnie Hudman, of Albany, has watched the deer population increase in Shackelford County "since we've been a one-buck county."

The wildlife manager at Stasney's Cook Ranch said he thinks the area has the deer population to support the state's proposal to increase the limits on white-tailed deer hunting.

Continued dry range conditions throughout much of the state this spring could have a negative impact on wild turkey production and hunting prospects, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists.

New records were set March 7, 2009 as 256 Bass Champs Central Region teams converged on Belton Lake fishing for part of a $62,260 purse paid out to the top 35 teams. This was the largest field in the History of the Bass Champs Central Texas Region, topping the previous record of 255 boats. Lone angler Craig Gilbert topped them all winning 1st place and $20,000.
