Ignorance? Stupidity? A little of both? No need to shoot this snake.

Killed this Rattler on 1/7/11 at 4:15pm, on the way to the deer blind in Freer!  Gentleman holding the snake is 6' tall. I guess Snake Boots are a must 12 months of the year!

Up close snake in Colorado 2010 USA

This is one big Coral Snake, and unfortunately, this is not at the ranch, it is in our backyard. My grandkids were about to go out in the backyard when my son spotted it. It was just laying there, basking in the sun while my son measured it. He ended up becoming a hat band.

That is one wicked looking fang there. He spit out a lot of venom when I put him in an ice chest. I will be building him a box and keep him for a while until I can find a snake buyer. I already have caught some mice to feed him, so he will be all right for a while.

I have been enjoying walking ranches this spring. Anybody have an idea of what type of snake this is? It didn't have a rattle that I could see. I got up pretty close to it with my point-and-shoot camera and it didn't coil and bite me on the nose, but someone told me it is a type of rattlesnake. I don't think so.

We sure were glad that he was dead!!
