Hunting Barriers Expected to Fall in Five States

Summary: Young people in five states can expect to go hunting soon, thanks to the Families Afield initiative. The NWTF, National Shooting Sports Foundation and U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance are chipping away at barriers in five states — California, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Summary: The NWTF wants to make a safe sport even safer, and has created a hunter safety curriculum to do just that. The Turkey Hunter Success and Safety curriculum is a two-disc CD-ROM and DVD set, and includes lessons on everything from firearms safety to shoot/don’t shoot scenarios.

High-Tech Access

Summary: Young hunters in Nebraska now have the opportunity to hunt more land, thanks to a partnership made up of national and local conservation organizations, including the NWTF. People who would like to mentor a young hunter log on to the Internet and reserve private land for the young person to hunt.

Summary: With fall turkey hunting season right around the corner, now is a great time to introduce a young hunter to the outdoors. And, thanks to the Families Afield initiative, it’s now easier for young people to go afield in 10 states throughout the country. Partnerships Key to Hunting Heritage

Summary: The NWTF made a commitment to keep hunters’ rights and removing youth hunting barriers a top priority by donating $100,000 to the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.
