FOR SALE: Ruger M77 Mark II 300 Win Mag w/ Swift Premier 3-9x50 Scope

FOR SALE: Ruger M77 Mark II 300 Win Mag w/ Swift Premier 3-9x50 Scope
Summary:

Marty,

My .270 is a Remington Model 700 for reference.  Recoil between the guns is about the same ... the added weight of the 300 dampens any additional recoil added by the larger round.  That being said, this 300 certainly is not for a kid or small adult.  It's a relatively heavy rifle with a nice punch.  It'll knock just about anything down that you shoot at - it's a fun gun to shoot.

2011 Wild Hog Roundup Underway!!! 86 killed so far!

Summary:

I went out Friday night with a group for my first Thermal hog hunt.   Double Drop Hunts  http://www.doubledrophunts.com I have hunted before with night vision and been fairly successful if hogs were around to shoot at. But this night we were very lucky. We watched from a fence line downwind from a field and a large Oak tree where bait had been put out. At the time I was not feeling overly optimistic because it seemed too open a field. But after waiting for 40 minutes one of the guys whispers that he sees movement. And one after another hogs start coming into the field. There had to be at least 60 70 hogs. We were instructed to shoot on the count of 3. All the guns were suppressed and some had Thermal and others had night vision.
In Short order we had 9 hogs down. This was a rush and I really enjoyed the hunt.

any one have this gun?

ya thay are the one i have shoot very well

want to no what other people think

Summary:

Kevin,

I do not own a Mauser in .30-06.  But, I will tell you from over 30 year's experience that every gun is different - even with the same model from the same manufacturer.  There are a number of things that affect accuracy for different bullets and loads:  Rate of barrel rifling twist, chamber headspace, harmonics on the barrel, etc.  Some guns will like 150 gr, some 165s, and another 180s...and, there are even bullet designs that some rifles favor over others.  Shoot different weights and loads from different manufacturers, because the type of powders can affect this as well.  To give you an example, I've got a 7mm Mag that likes only Federal 140gr Nosler Partitions.  With those I can keep under 0.75" at 100 yards consistently.  Without them I'm 1.5"+.

There's also the type of hunting you do.  Frankly, if all you're doing is taking native Texas game, including hogs and most exotics (Nilgai might be a possible exception), any of the bullet weights above will do very well.  I'd even throw elk in that category.  You picked your round well - .30-06 is one of the best.

The other is the range you take game.  If you're shooting within 100 yards, a 2" group at 100 yards is plenty of accuracy.  And, cartridge selection in that case becomes more preference than anything else.  But, if you take game further than that you have to be a little more particular the farther you shoot, so bullet design becomes something to think more about, because there are bullet designs that hold speed and energy much better than others.  In this case you have to balance accuracy with bullet design (i.e. what can I shoot that hits where I aim and put it down)

Hope this helps.

Whisper Creek.

Summary: I've had one for 3 years its my primary hunting bow. Love the thing. I did blow a cam out once when I was stalking a hog. I came to full draw and move into a limb, upon release the main line slipped out of the cam and blew out my cam. There is a guy on Ebay that sells all the old parts for the WP bows. I have 2 bowtechs a Mathews and a PSE and to date this day I use the WP as my primary hunting rig because of how quiet it is to shoot and how smooth it is to draw.

Kansas deer for Texas hogs

Summary:

We like to spot and stalk during the day and maybe sit in stands for the evening hunt. Never hunted with dogs but that might be fun. "Grab & Stab" would make for a sweet video to show the grandkids.

Shoot me an email and we can see what happens...........
