Old Mexico Whitetail - Daughter gets her second Whitetail Deer

Old Mexico Whitetail - Daughter gets her second Whitetail Deer
Summary:

This is already the best hunting season so far and I haven't even taken a deer.  We make our annual family hunting trip every year after Christmas through New Years.  This year I played guide to my wife taking her first deer ever and to my oldest daughter 15 years old taking her second Old Mexico Whitetail.  They made we work hard between them not wanting to get up early and being lazy otherwise we could have gotten this done quicker than we did.  We were able to close the deal on the last day with my wife in the morning taking a 142 9 Point, and my daughter taking a 135 ten point 15 minutes in to the afternoon hunt.  It turned out to be a family affair with my wife and the two youngest sitting in the truck watching while we tried one last time to get this deer she had been chasing all week.  The disappointment was rising the closer we got to the end of the hunt, only to lead to more excitement as we took it down to the wire.  Due to school and sports she wouldn't have the opportunity to get back down and hunt before the season's end.  What a way to start off the new year!  I couldn't be happier.

Old Mexico!! The "REAL" Buckmaster!!

Old Mexico!! The "REAL" Buckmaster!!
Summary:

I’ll set the scene for you.

It’s mid to late December early to peak rut in Mexico during the 2005/2006 Hunting Season.  I am heading over to pick up my best friend (We have this ranch together).  We use marine radios for communication on the ranch because they work the best for range and clarity.  As I am getting close to his stand location I radio him to make sure there are no deer around.  He tells me of this young buck that is there.  This 2 ½ yo buck had been out earlier thinking he was “king of the bush” challenging older more dominant bucks in the area.  After a brief conversation via radio we decided that I would go ahead and ease up there.  We figured the young buck would here the truck and eventually ease off and not be spooked at all.  As I eased up to the stand location the young buck was not effected by the truck at all!!  In fact he was still raking the brush with his horns in attempt to show his dominance.  With him still sitting in the stand with his video camera and after a brief conversation via radio we decided that I would get out of the truck and attempt to toy with this young buck while he captures the events on video and the rest is history.  This video was edited to take out some of the slow moments but you would get a good feel of what went on.

 Good TIMES in OLD MEXICO!!

Old Mexico New 10 the following Morning

Old Mexico New 10 the following Morning
Summary:

Here is video from the following morning!  This deer still needed a couple of years on him at least.  This was taken two years ago this deer season but I never saw him again after this video shot.  Diddn't see him at all last season.  Fun how deer go away and get lost.  I guess age and 17k acres has a lot to do with that.

Old Mexico 8 Pt Video 2 @ 3.5 YO

Old Mexico 8 Pt Video 2 @ 3.5 YO
Summary:

This was the 07/08 Season, same deer, same location and almost the same exact spot.  I love being able to do these video comparisons to see what they do from one year to the next....

Enjoy!

Old Mexico!! Bright Future for this Young 10

Old Mexico!! Bright Future for this Young 10
Summary:

This is from the 06/07 Season and this is the only time that I saw this deer.  I didn't see him anymore that year or last year.  He should be 5.5 this year and a real bruiser!  Hopefully we will get a peek at him this year.

Old Mexico 8 Point Video 1 @ 2.5 YO

Summary:

This buck is from the 06/07 Season.  He is 2.5.  I have more video from last year which he was 3.5.  He made a nice jump.  I love watching these deer from one year to the next and keeping track of the changes they make.

Summary:

I can see 2.5 and 3.5 but lots of rain and deer very fat early in the season.  Regardless not old enough and get a pass for atleast a few more years.

Old Mexico Whitetail

Old Mexico Whitetail
Summary:

It was absolutely the best hunting season I have ever had hands down regardless of if I get a deer this year or not.  Being able to guide your kids and your wife to a first ever deer is something that you can't explain...  I am not sure what I enjoy more....  hunting for myself or being able to share the excitement when my kids or wife takes an animal...
