Texas Wildlife recently placed first in the outdoor publication under 25,000 in circulation awards category sponsored by the Texas Outdoor Writers Association (TOWA).

Mr. Joe Coleman of Houston and Mr. A.V. Jones, Jr., of Albany have been named winners of the TWAF Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award in Quail Management for their outstanding leadership in quail conservation and stewardship.

Immediately following the Boots on the Ground visits at the Capitol, TWA, in association with other member groups of Texas Outdoor Partners (TOP), hosted 27 legislators and nearly the same number of legislative staff of the Texas Legislative Sportsman's Caucus for a relaxing quail hunt at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch in Creedmoor.

The largest grassroots advocacy turnout of TWA members and supporters in Austin in TWA history converged on the capital city this week for a "Boots on the Ground" event that included activities taking aim at both sporting clays and important policy issues facing state lawmakers.

The season's largest number of youth hunts occurs this weekend with 10 hunts scheduled across the state as part of the Texas Youth Hunting Program (TYHP).

The "Texas Quail Study Group" will hold its annual meeting in Odessa on October 2-3. This year's program features "Quail Management in West Texas." The Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation (TBCF) will hold its Annual Membership Meeting on October 17, 2008 at the Parten family’s 7J Ranch in Houston County, west of Crockett, Texas.  The theme of this year’s meeting is “Linkages among urban and rural Texans, conservation, and the Trinity River”.

The Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) is celebrating 23 years of promoting effective habitat conservation and responsible hunting through private land stewardship at its annual convention “WildLife 2008,” June 27-28, 2008. The convention, touted as one of the “family-friendliest parties in Texas,” will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio.
